Hardcore sports coupe hits iconic circuit wearing heaps of camouflage and quad-exhaust outlets. A prototype believed to be a more extreme 'Black Series' version of the Mercedes-AMG GT has been spied again, this time during performance testing at the Nurburgring race track in Germany.Compared to the prototype snapped in September, this vehicle is sporting a more aggressive aerodynamic setup, including a more pronounced front bumper and splitter with incorporated flics, and a larger rear wing.Out the back we can see a set of pre-production quad tailpipes, which is a dead giveaway of a new variant given the current GT R flagship has a centrally-mounted arrangement. The exhaust could hint at a revised engine setup, which could see a more powerful version of the 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 that does service across the AMG GT range. At the moment the most powerful GT variant is the GT R, which offers 430kW and 700Nm. This 'Black Series' version could up outputs to 450kW and 850Nm – the same … [Read more...] about 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series spied at the ‘Ring

New exhaust setup hints at more focused super sports car flagship. A development prototype believed to be the upcoming Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series has been snapped this week, further fuelling rumours the German performance specialist is working on a new flagship model.Despite looking very much like an AMG GT R wrapped in a swirly black-and-white disguise, this prototype has one distinguishing feature – a different exhaust system with quad pipes sticking out in a Lexus-like stacked design. Normally, the GT R breathes through a large central outlet.Given the very rough arrangement, we'd suggest this is a very early prototype testing a revised engine and exhaust setup. This likely means that the GT Black Series – or 'Clubsport' as some publications have speculated – will get an even more powerful engine.Currently, the AMG GT R makes 430kW and 700Nm from its 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8. It's likely a 'Black Series' or 'Clubsport' version will get the full-fat … [Read more...] about 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT ‘Black Series’ spied
If you’re not keeping up with the news stream, you might think that the addition of the new 4-Door Coupe has rounded of the Mercedes-AMG GT family. This, however, is not the case as AMG boss Tobias Moers has already confirmed that they’re developing a Black Series model, which is believed to arrive around 2020. The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series (name unconfirmed) will get dangerously close to modern supercars in terms of both power and performance. The exact number that will be produced by the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 is unknown, but we could be looking at 640 PS (630 hp / 470 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque or, in other words, as much as the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe S. Confession time: to these eyes the Bangle-era BMWs are looking quite good now. You might agree, you most probably don't, but there it is. That's proper Bangle Beemers too, the more Bangle the better, not the half baked ones. An ordinary E90 3 Series, where BMW toned down the Bangle influence for fear of its biggest seller tanking, now looks bland and forgettable. Compare that to an E60 generation 5 Series, or an original Z4, both launched 15 years ago, and they look fresh and modern in 2018. The E65-era 7 Series still does it for me too, yes - apologies. Now while the E63 6 Series was never top of the 21st century BMW fascinations - unless we're talking about an Indianapolis Red M6 - this particular car has made the big Bangle bruiser a lot more interesting. Because it has the six-speed manual gearbox. And, truth be told, nobody at PH actually knew such a car existed - yes, yes, membership cards to be handed in at the end of the shift. But here it is, a manual, V8 6 Series for sale … [Read more...] about BMW 650i: Spotted
With 585PS (577hp) and 700Nm (516lb-ft) of torque, the current Mercedes-AMG GT R is a force to be reckoned with. However, the automaker’s performance division is getting ready to launch an even brawnier variant of the impressive GT R. The car was scooped testing at the Nurburgring the other week, and according to the AMG boss, Tobias Moers, who spoke to AutoExpress on the topic, it will be a track-oriented model. “We’re also working a little bit on a GT R… something. It’ll be a bit more race track-oriented. It’s lightened a little bit, but it’s more of a track day version for fun on circuits”, said Moers. “We’re not talking about a competition car – not a GT3 or a GT4, but more a ‘Clubsport’. We’re having a good look at that.” Also read: Mercedes-AMG GT R Black Series Wants To Be The New Lord Of The ‘Ring The more hardcore Mercedes-AMG GT R is expected within the next 12 months.
