The roof opens and closes in 19 seconds. The Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible arrives just weeks after the coupe's debut for folks who want to combine the power with open-air motoring. As befitting the British luxury brand, the cabin is opulent, too. Like the coupe, the Continental GT Speed Convertible has a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter W12 that makes 650 horsepower (485 kilowatts) and 664 pound-feet (900 Newton-meters) of torque. An eight-speed dual-clutch transmission routes the power to an all-wheel-drive system. For comparison, this is a tenth of a second slower to 60 mph than the coupe's 3.5 seconds, but the maximum velocity is the same. Van Gisbergen off painkillers since Sandown
The Kiwi has been nursing the injuries since a mountain bike crash last month, with an aggressive recovery process centred around hyperbaric treatment limiting the affect its had on his packed racing schedule. Remarkably he has only missed one event since the crash, the GT World Challenge Australia round at Phillip Island. Two weeks after undergoing surgery he took three wins from three Supercars races at Sandown, before heading to Mount Panorama another fortnight later to win a GT race and claim the Bathurst Triple Crown with a win in the six-hour production car race on the same weekend. Giving an update ahead of this weekend's third Supercars round of the season at Symmons Plains, van Gisbergen explained his collarbone is largely pain free. However the same can't be said of the broken ribs, only found after his three wins at Sandown , which continue to give him grief. Despite the pain he's resisting painkillers, to help chart his recovery without the … [Read more...] about Van Gisbergen off painkillers since Sandown
Porsche 911 Spy Shots Suggest New Sport Classic Model Coming Soon
Expect a limited production run. The Porsche 911 comes in a variety of flavors, sometimes making it difficult to identify a nondescript prototype. A new batch of spy shots shows us a familiar-looking test vehicle – this isn't the first 911 with a ducktail spoiler we've spotted – but this new one has several distinct differences. Previous 911 spy shots captured a ducktail-equipped test vehicle sporting a Turbo model's rear haunches, with gaping air intakes puncturing the rear fenders. However, the new test vehicle in the latest batch of pics doesn't have those. The fenders are smooth, lacking the intakes, but that's not the only difference. A close inspection of the new prototype reveals it sports a double-bubble roof, which isn't present on the other 911 Turbo-like one. Wolff doubts Bottas came close to retirement after team orders
Mercedes sparked controversy at the 2018 Russian Grand Prix when it asked Bottas to move aside for teammate Lewis Hamilton in a bid to protect its 1-2 finish. Bottas was left visibility disappointed and unhappy by the call from Mercedes, and claimed during the most recent series of Drive to Survive on Netflix that the incident made him consider quitting F1. "That was tough, tough to accept," Bottas said. "I was pretty angry. Honestly, I was thinking, why do I do this? "I was even thinking of quitting, of giving up. Straight after the race, I said I would not do it again." But Mercedes team principal Wolff said he did not think at the time that Bottas was close to retiring from F1 altogether in the wake of the incident. "No, he was very downhearted, of course. I understand that - but I don't think he was close to retirement," Wolff said. "Because he's too much of a competitor for that. But I can imagine, in the heat of the situation, after the race, you … [Read more...] about Wolff doubts Bottas came close to retirement after team orders
Supercars re-opens all eight Bathurst 1000 campsites
The Aussie series confirmed that the full suite of campsites will be open for the first time since 2019 for the October classic. The move follows a complete closure of the camping facilities for last year's Great Race due to strict coronavirus protocols, while just four of the sites were open for the 2021 season-opening Mount Panorama 500 in February. It also suggests that, subject to any relevant outbreaks of the virus, the event could be back to near full crowd capacity. Sporting stadiums around the currently have recently began to drop capacity rules, with the major football codes now welcoming full capacity crowds around most of the country. According to Supercars, campsite ticket holders from 2019 will have access to a pre-sale that starts next week, before general sale starts on June 15. "Supercars is pleased to confirm all eight campgrounds will be open at Mount Panorama for the 2021 Repco Bathurst 1000," read a statement from the series.
