Vince Ellis Detroit Free Press Published 1:24 AM EDT Jun 21, 2019 The Detroit Pistons made a last-minute move toward the end of the 2019 NBA draft. The Pistons traded with the Philadelphia 76ers for Tennessee point guard Jordan Bone, dealing one of the future second-round picks they landed from the Cleveland Cavaliers earlier in evening, a source tells the Free Press. The Pistons also sent out cash to complete the transaction. The Pistons address a need with one of the most athletic players in the draft. At 6 feet 3 and 180 pounds, Bone could at least give the Pistons a viable third point guard option his rookie season. After an inconsistent first two seasons with the Vols, it clicked for Bone during his junior season, where he averaged 13 points and nearly 5.8 assists per game with two turnovers. He shot 35.5% from 3-point range on 3.8 attempts per game. Vince Ellis Detroit Free Press Published 8:08 AM EDT Jun 20, 2019 The Detroit Pistons have addressed a roster need the night before the NBA draft — and picked up another first-round pick. Two sources with firsthand knowledge of the process tell the Free Press that the Pistons have obtained Milwaukee Bucks small forward Tony Snell and the last pick of the first round of Thursday night’s NBA draft (30th overall). The Pistons are sending the Bucks big man Jon Leuer. The Pistons need perimeter wings with size and Snell, 27, fits the bill. He stands 6-foot-7 and weighs 213 pounds. He shot nearly 40% from 3-point range last season, which should help a team that finished 23rd in 3-point shooting last season. Vince Ellis Detroit Free Press Published 7:18 AM EST Feb 7, 2019 NEW YORK — Reggie Bullock leaned down to pick up his carry-on bag late Tuesday night. I had arrived after he had started speaking with reporters following the Detroit Pistons’ 105-92 victory over the New York Knicks. I asked Bullock, who joined the Detroit Pistons in June 2015 with little fanfare, about the rumor he was being targeted by the Los Angeles Lakers before Thursday’s trade deadline. Bullock, 27, said he wanted to remain with the organization where he has blossomed into a top 3-point threat in the past 3½ seasons. But he acknowledged it’s a business. “It’s part of the game,” Bullock said. “It’s great for me to know that a bunch of teams in the league finally know my name after six years, being able to stay dialed in with my talents. “Trying to give all I can to this organization. If that’s the way the organization wants to move, by all … [Read more...] about Detroit Pistons trades not exactly all-in moves for playoffs
Vince Ellis Detroit Free Press Published 12:35 AM EST Feb 6, 2019 The Detroit Pistons appear to be making a move just before Thursday’s NBA trade deadline. The Pistons are trading Reggie Bullock to the Los Angeles Lakers for rookie shooting guard Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk, according to two sources with knowledge of the deal. The Athletic’s Frank Isola was first to report the news Tuesday night. One source said the Pistons are also receiving a 2021 second-round pick. It’s not clear if the move is a harbinger of a larger deal. Bullock scored 19 points in the Pistons’ 105-92 victory over the New York Knicks on Thursday night. Bullock, 27, is making $2.5 million, but will be a free agent this offseason. Mike Conley is the latest Pistons savior – if you listen to some fans. It was major news this week when ESPN.com reported the Grizzlies would listen to trade offers for franchise stalwarts Mike Conley and Marc Gasol. Pistons Twitter reacted, with users of the social media platform rushing the ESPN.com’s Trade Machine to decipher a scenario to bring star Blake Griffin some help before the Feb. 7 trade deadline. The focus is Conley with the gaping hole the Pistons currently have at point guard. The fan base is growing hostile toward incumbent point guard Reggie Jackson, whose untimely photobomb during a Griffin postgame interview this week set off ESPN’s talking heads. … [Read more...] about Should Detroit Pistons trade for Grizzlies PG Mike Conley?
