The final ruling from Motorsport Australia comes more than a month after Boys took a career-first win in the second-tier Supercars series at Mount Panorama. The Walkinshaw Andretti United-built V8 engine was removed from his Image Racing Holden for routine checks following the race, upon which it was found to not comply with its Engine Specification Document. Boys has been disqualified from the race, handing the win to MW Motorsport's Tyler Everingham. It has also cost him his early series lead, Zak Best taking over at the top of the standings as Boys drops down to 14th. According to the stewards report, "the [Supercars Engine Projects Manager] ran the engine on the Supercars dyno and found that it produced an accumulated engine power number (AEP) which exceeded the maximum AEP approved by Supercars for a VF Commodore engine". The motor, WR62, failed to confirm to ESD SC-2-305 through both the AEP breach and components that are inconsistent with the ESD. The … [Read more...] about Super2 rocked by Bathurst engine breach

Home Four wheelers oi-Punith Bharadwaj By Punith Bharadwaj Published: Wednesday, April 14, 2021, 19:41 [IST] The Ministry of Heavy Industry and Public Enterprise (MHIPE) has announced new validity norms for the FAME-II certificates. According to the new rule, the certificate will be valid for a year from the date it is issued. The earlier rule stated that all certificates issued will be valid only for that current (FY) Financial Year. This meant that all certificates were valid till March 31, 2021. However, the rule has been changed to make it easier for EV makers in the country. According to the notification sent by the MHIPE, all OEMs and testing agencies will have to submit revalidation certificates for all models of EVs. This process has to be completed within one month of the expiry of their validity. If not revalidated within a month from expiration, the FAME-II certificate is liable for cancellation. An electric version is on the roadmap, though. The new Peugeot 308 is undeniably one of the sharpest-looking hatchbacks on the European market. With 225 horsepower (168 kilowatts), the most powerful plug-in hybrid model is definitely not lacking in the power department, but it seems that it will remain the model’s range-topper going forward. A new report from TopGear says there won’t be a 308 GTI or 308 Sport Engineered. And this is not just a speculation, as the information was confirmed to the publication by Jerome Micheron, Peugeot’s product director. “If you look at the market for sporty versions, and the CO2 regulations, it has collapsed,” he told TopGear . There were early reports about a potential PHEV all-wheel-drive hot hatch based on the new 308. Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen as Micheron said Peugeot doesn’t “see a market yet” and “it adds extra weight.” Simply put, the 225-hp (168-kW) plug-in 308 will basically remain the C-segment model’s … [Read more...] about Peugeot 308 GTI Or Sport Engineered Hot Hatch Already Ruled Out
You’ll have to see this to believe it. A police officer’s dashcam recently captured one of the craziest vehicle fires we’ve seen yet. Patrolling the streets of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Officer Harris caught a flaming van rolling down a public road, ending its journey in a ditch at the end of the street. While it may sound like a scene from a Michael Bay film, this was unfortunately a very real incident . Luckily the FPD officer arrived on the scene quickly and kept a passerby out of harm’s way – who was almost taken out by the flaming vehicle. The footage from the dashcam reveals a van that had apparently exploded and proceeded to roll away at an alarmingly fast rate of speed. Hyundai also showed the highest MPG gains for the 2016 model year. Cars are getting more powerful, but also more frugal. According to the latest report from the Environmental Protection Agency , the 2016 model year (the most recent year for data) saw average fuel economy ratings across all personal vehicles hit 24.7 mpg. That’s up 0.1 mpg from 2015, which admittedly is a small step but still enough to claim a record high. At the same time, the report says average new vehicle horsepower in 2016 climbed to 230, which is a 1 hp gain from the previous year. Again, it’s a small increase but like the fuel mileage ratings, it’s also a record high.
