Christine Ferretti The Detroit News Published 8:49 p.m. UTC Jul 30, 2018 Detroit — A minority-owned firm that's participated in the city's federally funded demolition program is suing the city's mayor, land bank and building authority on claims of racial discrimination and retaliation. In a federal lawsuit filed Sunday, Detroit-based Direct Construction Services and the firm's managing member, Timothy Drakeford, who is black, is alleging he was treated unfairly based on his race and that officials in the program conspired to have him suspended for refusing to falsify documents and over his cooperation with federal authorities. Drakeford, who is barred from bidding on federally funded demolition work, is also claiming breach of contract and accuses program administers of failing to pay black contractors on time. Reached Monday, Drakeford declined to comment on the lawsuit and directed inquiries to his attorney, who could not immediately be … [Read more...] about Demo firm accuses city, land bank of racial bias and retaliation

John Cena Sued By Ford for Flipping His Ford GT
Ford wasn’t kidding about wanting to keep ownership of the GT as exclusive as possible. In addition to setting production numbers incredibly low, the company also carefully vetted prospective supercar buyers and made them promise not to resell the vehicle for at least two years. While atypical of Ford-branded vehicles, clauses like that aren’t uncommon among high-end manufacturers selling an ultra-rare model. But what happens when a customer decides to ignore the contract and flip the vehicle prematurely? Well, as wrestling-icon John Cena found out, the automaker takes you to court. On Thursday, Ford Motor Company filed suit against Cena in the U.S. District Court in Michigan over breach of contract, fraudulent misrepresentation, and unjust enrichment. According to a report from the celebrity hounds at TMZ, the manufacturer is demanding Cena hand over all profits made from the sale and pay damages. “Mr. Cena has unfairly made a large profit from the … [Read more...] about John Cena Sued By Ford for Flipping His Ford GT
John Cena Is Being Sued By Ford For Reselling His New Ford GT
Remember how Ford hand-picked its buyers for the $450,000-plus Ford GT supercar? Wrestler John Cena was one of the 500 lucky ones who got one, but he quickly sold the car afterwards. Now Ford is taking him to court, as buyers were contractually obligated to keep the car for two years before selling it. Automakers tend to cringe when their rare supercars are resold for a higher price after they’re sold. For one, that means they’re not the ones making the big bucks off of their own products. Marques like Porsche, Ferrari, Aston Martin and Ford heavily discourage buyers from flipping their cars, sometimes using contracts like the one Cena signed for the Ford GT. If the company finds out you made a profit flipping your new supercar, it often means you won’t be invited to purchase future rare offerings from that marque. Sad! Ford Motor Company is taking things a step further however—the company filed a lawsuit Thursday against Cena in the U.S. District Court in … [Read more...] about John Cena Is Being Sued By Ford For Reselling His New Ford GT
Ugly Lawsuit Documents The Implosion Of Red Bull Global Rallycross
Unpaid bills. Allegations of abusive treatment. Explosive text messages. Car companies leaving for a competing series. Once, Red Bull Global Rallycross seemed like a bright spot in the racing world: action-packed events popular with young fans where Subarus, Volkswagens and more flew across dirt and asphalt courses. Now GRC’s future seems in doubt, and according to lawsuits obtained by Jalopnik, participants and former employees alike are left with little more than a bad taste in their mouths. On Tuesday, GRC’s 2018 season and perhaps its entire future came grinding to an apparent halt. GRC’s 2018 events website is totally blank, and Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway announced it was informed by GRC management the series had ceased operation. But according to court documents, this possible end of the series has been in the works for months, at least. GRC surprised fans with the discontinuation of its top Supercars class in February, but the lack of cars … [Read more...] about Ugly Lawsuit Documents The Implosion Of Red Bull Global Rallycross

PUBLISHED: 12:06 23 January 2017 | UPDATED: 14:00 23 January 2017 Sam Smith If you've discovered an undisclosed problem with a house you've bought, there are a few solutions allinvisuality From undisclosed water damage or a mouse infestation to disputes with neighbours, if a seller has not disclosed an issue with a property the buyer may be able to sue or rescind the contract. Property solicitor Sam Smith of Streathers, Crouch End In a previous article I discussed the steps a buyer can take to try and ensure a seller discloses all relevant information during the course of a property transaction. Unfortunately there will be occasions where a defect is discovered after exchange of contracts or completion that the seller knew about (or arguably should have known about) but did not disclose. In those circumstances, the remedies available to a buyer will depend on when the defect is discovered and the nature of the seller’s non-disclosure. If the defect is discovered … [Read more...] about I’ve discovered that the seller didn’t disclose a defect with my house. Is there anything I can do?
