POMONA, Calif. – Two of drag racing’s legendary champions – one on two wheels and one on four – led a special ceremony at the National Hot Rod Ass’n’s Lucas Oil Winternationals Saturday to announce a $1 million donation to B.R.A.K.E.S. CONCORD, N.C. — The national free teen defensive driving program B.R.A.K.E.S. (Be Responsible And Keep Everyone Safe) will head to Gateway Motorsports Park on Saturday and Sunday, November 3-4. Sessions will be held from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Utilizing vehicles provided by Kia Motors and with partial funding from the St. Louis Area Kia Dealers, the B.R.A.K.E.S. program offers teens extensive behind-the-wheel instruction by ex-law enforcement and professional racing drivers, teaching new drivers and their parents how to be safer on the road. Exercises include Distracted Driving Awareness, Panic Braking, Crash Avoidance, Drop Wheel/Off-road Recovery, and Car Control/Skid Recovery. If TNT broadcaster Marv Albert had forgotten Willis Reed's dramatic appearance in Game 7 of the 1970 NBA Finals, he was reminded when he was asked about it throughout the day on Monday. "That was the Finals, so that's different," Albert, who did the live radio broadcast of the game when the television broadcast was shown only on tape delay. "I was doing a pregame show and I interviewed Willis prior to the game and he told me, "I got my shot" and there was no question he was going to play. "It was mostly radio in those days.
