We'll take the coupe. S8 Officially Revealed: 2020 Audi S8 Arrives With Subtle Style, 563 HP Twin-Turbo V8 The fourth-generation Audi A8 was unveiled only a few days ago, but already some people with too much free time on their hands are imagining all sorts of versions in the digital realm. By far our favorite of the bunch is the coupe, which actually has a shot in the real life. The Prologue concept from a few years ago heralded a new design language for Audi and it was put to good use for the first time on a production model on the 2018 A8. Guess what body style it had? Yes, it was a coupe. The Prologue was no doubt a stunner, and while the A8 Sedan doesn’t really quite match it in terms of styling, a coupe could prove to be much nicer. Some reports are indicating Audi will inaugurate the A9 family for the coupe and will have it on sale in a few years from now. We’ll just have to wait and see about that. If Audi did decide to build an RS8, it could have more than 600 horsepower. The introduction of the new Audi A8 already has us yearning for a high-performance model either with an S or RS badge. As far as we know, Audi will be unveiling an S8 variant in the near future, but the verdict is still out on an even hotter RS model. But that doesn’t mean we can’t dream. Rendering artist Jan Peisert of Peisert Design has created an RS8 that looks ready for the track. Don't call it an A6. The Volkswagen Group has a vast portfolio in China thanks to its local joint ventures with FAW and SAIC. The former builds and sells an extended-wheelbase Audi A6L Sedan while the latter recently launched the A7L, also a sedan. In case you've missed the memo, yes, the A7 we all know as a sleek Sportback since 2010 has morphed into a stately sedan in the People's Republic. A new walkaround video shot at the Auto Shanghai gives us a closer look at the China-only A7L with its trunk lid replacing the more practical liftback body style. At 5,076 millimeters (199.8 inches) long, it's a smidge larger than the A6 sold in China where the traditional sedan features a stretched wheelbase compared to the global model. Speaking of which, the distance between the axles of the A7L measures 3,026 mm (119.1 in), which is once again a little bit more than the A6L. Audi A8 and Fiat 500X emit more than 12 times the official limit. Diesel vehicles are still being favored in Europe for their high efficiency and good fuel consumption ratings, but a new study reveals almost all modern diesel cars exceed official pollution limits . A few days ago it was announced Volkswagen, Opel, Audi, Mercedes, and Porsche will have to recall a total of 630,000 diesel cars in Germany due to a problem with the diesel emissions management software. Now, Emissions Analytics (EA) publishes new data that shows 97 percent of all new diesels on the market emit more toxic nitrogen oxide (NOx) pollution in real environment than the official limits allow. The study covers more than 250 models in standardized road conditions. Shockingly, EA says only one of 201 Euro 5 diesels tested, a Skoda Octavia TDI, did not exceed the limit and just seven of 62 Euro 6 models are meeting the standards. What’s even more interesting is that most of the vehicles that did not … [Read more...] about Study says 97% of diesel cars fail to meet emissions standards
