The payment to Daniels, which Cohen says was intended to buy her silence about an alleged sexual encounter with Trump, has been the subject of law-enforcement scrutiny for years, but a new grand jury is giving it a fresh look by a new grand jury. Cohen said Wednesday that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office asked for the phones because it wants to extract voice recordings of conversations he had with a lawyer for Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, as well as emails and text messages. “That way it could be used as evidence if in fact they proceed forward, which, I would … [Read more...] about Cohen says DA took phones for renewed Trump hush-money probe

Dr. Phil ends his show after 21 seasons to pursue prime-time TV
The syndicated daytime television show "Dr. Phil" is ending after 21 seasons, sunsetting a decades-long mainstay in the tabloid talk show genre that has become a cultural touchstone for viral "clapbacks" between its titular host and his guests, as well as popular cringe-inducing internet memes. Phil McGraw, the show's host, "is choosing to exit" for "new ventures," a news release from CBS Media Ventures said Tuesday. It added that the show will air original episodes through the current 2022-2023 television season, and that McGraw will pursue a "strategic prime-time partnership" aimed at expanding his audience in early 2024. "While his show may be ending after 21 years, I'm happy to say our relationship is not," Steve LoCascio, president of CBS Media Ventures, said in the release. Following Arkansas’ lead, Hispanic lawmakers in CT seek to bar term ‘Latinx’ in state government
After years of cultural clashes over the use of the gender-neutral term “Latinx,” a group of Connecticut lawmakers is hoping to banish the word from the state’s lexicon. A bill filed recently by five Hispanic lawmakers would prohibit state agencies from using Latinx in any official communications and documents. The bill’s chief sponsor, state Rep. Geraldo Reyes Jr., D-Waterbury, argued that the term alienates native-Spanish speakers, particularly members of Connecticut’s sizeable Puerto Rican population . The use of Latinx as an alternative to typical gendered nouns such as “Latino” and “Latina” has divided many Hispanics and Spanish-speakers in recent years, with some, such as Reyes, describing it as an example of “woke” terminology being promoted mostly by white activists. Others say that the term offers inclusive language for people who do not identify with either gender, and that it has been gaining in popularity particularly among younger speakers. Earlier this month, … [Read more...] about Following Arkansas’ lead, Hispanic lawmakers in CT seek to bar term ‘Latinx’ in state government
Radical SR10 XXR Debuts With Aero Upgrades, Carbon Fiber Bits
In late December last year, Radical unveiled the SR3 XXR as a more potent and hardcore version of one of its most popular products. Now, the British company also upgrades the SR10 to XXR specification by adding aerodynamic and other upgrades to this more powerful race car. The single-seater now features new front louvers, which should improve the aerodynamics at high speeds and have a positive effect on handling and cooling, according to Radical. Another novelty comes in the form of an LMP-inspired central fin, also seen on the SR3 XXR. New lightweight alloy wheels and new front DRL lights round off the improvements that come as standard equipment for this optimized version of the SR10. Optionally, customers can have a new carbon splitter and diffuser package, which brings additional weight reduction. Alonso “wouldn’t accept” continuing in F1 at less than 100%
Listen to this article Alonso returned to F1 with Alpine in 2021 after taking a two-year break to race in the FIA World Endurance Championship, the Indy 500 and the Dakar Rally. Alonso's third stint at the Enstone outfit got off to a slow start but once he got back up to speed the Spaniard re-found his old form, frequently suggesting he was driving at his best-ever level in 2022, a season which was blighted by reliability issues. For 2023, Alonso jumped ship to Aston Martin, which struggled last year to finish seventh in the constructors' championship. While the team is a step down from Alpine in the short term, the Lawrence Stroll-led outfit managed to convince Alonso with its long-term project, answering to Alonso's desire to stay in F1 for years to come. And the 41-year-old says he wouldn't have accepted to continue if he didn't think he was still capable of performing at his peak, or if he wasn't convinced that Aston can close the gap while he is still around. … [Read more...] about Alonso “wouldn’t accept” continuing in F1 at less than 100%
Pedro de la Rosa tells Spanish F1 fans to stop living in the past and embrace ‘golden age’
Pedro de la Rosa has told Spanish F1 fans to stop living in the past and appreciate that they have two drivers on the F1 grid in Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz. And while they aren’t winning World titles at the moment, there are still race wins and podium results. The last time Spain celebrated a World Champion was back in 2006 when Alonso won his second successive championship with Renault. He went onto record runner-up results in 2007 with McLaren and twice with Ferrari in 2010 and 2012 but wasn’t able to add a third title to his tally. This season Spain could be in the hunt but with a different driver, Sainz. Last year the 28-year-old clinched his maiden race win, P1 at the British Grand Prix, while overall he managed nine podium results. De la Rosa says Spanish fans should appreciate that they have two drivers rather than lament the 16-year draught for World Championship titles. PlanetF1 recommends ‘Charles Leclerc is Ferrari’s key man, like Max is in Red Bull … [Read more...] about Pedro de la Rosa tells Spanish F1 fans to stop living in the past and embrace ‘golden age’
Former F1 engineer questions Nico Hulkenberg’s ‘really weird appointment’ at Haas
Former Force India and Red Bull Racing engineer Blake Hinsey has questioned Haas’ decision to bring in Nico Hulkenberg, calling it a “really weird appointment”. Haas announced on the eve of the 2022 season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix they would not be renewing Mick Schumacher’s contract. Instead the team went with “solid, reliable racer” Hulkenberg. The German will partner Kevin Magnussen in an over-30 line-up, Hulkenberg at 35 years of age the third oldest driver on the grid. Although Hulkenberg hasn’t had a permanent race seat for three seasons, team boss Guenther Steiner firmly believes he’s the right man for the job, saying every team he has been with “always made a step forward” because he knows “exactly what needs to be done to make the team better”. But Hinsey, who worked with Hulkenberg at Force India, isn’t convinced. “I like Niko, because he was on the other car when I was at Force India,” he said as per GPFans . “He’s a good driver. “Is he going to be better … [Read more...] about Former F1 engineer questions Nico Hulkenberg’s ‘really weird appointment’ at Haas
Haas are now starting to embrace American roots with Andretti-Cadillac bid developing
With a new American sponsor behind them, it seems Haas are finally embracing their American heritage. Although Haas have been established since 2014 and have always branded themselves as the ‘American team’ it is not until now that statement seems justified. Of course, their base is in North Carolina but with offices also in the UK and Maranello, it is understandable that some American fans have felt no great affinity towards their supposed team. Team boss Guenther Steiner has suggested moving the team away from their European bases and to America would actually set them back but there are other parts of their operation which suggest they are trying to appeal to their home country a bit more. For starters, out goes the Russian Urakali and in comes the American MoneyGram, a move that will have won them support in the US and it comes at a time when Formula 1 is exploding in the region including three races Stateside in 2023. Perhaps then it was once Andretti began threatening … [Read more...] about Haas are now starting to embrace American roots with Andretti-Cadillac bid developing
