Leaving your dog in the car on a hot day could land you an UNLIMITED fine and a criminal record
AS Britain is plunged into a heatwave, drivers could be risking serious penalty for leaving their dog in the car. According to the RSPCA, Brits could end up with a criminal record if something happens to their pooch left alone in their motor - on top of dealing with the heartbreak of seeing their pet suffer. While it's technically not illegal to leave your pet unattended in your vehicle, if the animal becomes ill or even dies as a result of being left in the heat, you could be charged with animal cruelty. If found guilty under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, drivers can be slapped with an unlimited fine and even receive as much as six months in custody. Diesel tax forces price of new cars up by £300 – but there’s a way to avoid ever paying it
THE price of popular family cars has rocketed by £300 this month thanks to the new diesel tax. All new diesels faced the take hike from the start of April and dealers are charging more for new models, according to Buyacar. When you buy a new car, the retailers will pay the tax upfront before claiming it back from the buyer. With the diesel surcharge adding between £15 and £520 to the cost of taxing a car in its first year, dealers have had to raise prices. Popular cars like the VW Tiguan, Land Rover Discovery Sport and Kia Sportage have been raised by over £300 By contrast, petrol equivalents have only gone up by around £30 - to take into account inflation rises in tax bands. There is a way to escape paying the tax hikes - and it'll even score you a discount on a new model. The trick is to look out for a pre-registered car - one that a dealer has registered before 1 April meaning it'll be on the "old" tax rate. It'll normally have a handful of "delivery miles" … [Read more...] about Diesel tax forces price of new cars up by £300 – but there’s a way to avoid ever paying it
