The future doesn't have to be completely silent. The death of the internal combustion engine has been greatly exaggerated. Yes, we are heading towards an electric era, but the good ol' ICE is not giving up without a fight just yet. The Volkswagen Group has been toying around with the idea of synthetic fuels long before "Dieselgate" was even a word and it's not the only large company attempting to keep the "noisy" powertrain alive. Take for example Toyota. The Mirai is not exactly the most exciting car in the world, but it is one of the cleanest since only water comes out of its exhaust tip. This JDM-spec Corolla Sport hatchback also feeds on hydrogen as the midsize sedan, but it still has a combustion engine. The fuel used is one hundred percent pure hydrogen without even a single drop of gasoline. Its hydrogen engine emits close to zero CO2 emissions when in use, "except for the combustion of minute amounts of engine oil during driving." Toyota goes on to say these … [Read more...] about Toyota Corolla With Hydrogen-Fueled Combustion Engine Sounds Good
Arguably, no other combination has so clearly failed to turn dazzling qualifying speed into hard results. It's a strange situation given that historically the Faenza outfit has been known for overachieving, stealing unexpected results on days when things go wrong for others. Gasly qualified a superb fifth at both of the opening events in Bahrain and Imola, and yet the races have not gone to plan. In the first race the Frenchman crunched his front wing against the rear wheel of Daniel Ricciardo's McLaren on the opening lap, and his day was effectively over. Then at its home event AlphaTauri made an over-cautious call to start both cars on full wet tyres. That didn't pay off, and in the end seventh – helped by a one-place gain from a penalty ahead – represented a decent recovery for Gasly. To compound the Italian team's frustration his teammate Yuki Tsunoda has yet to fully optimise a race weekend and fulfil his obvious potential. Gasly is well aware that opportunities … [Read more...] about Can Gasly finally fulfil AlphaTauri qualifying promise?
It took seven months to build, and there's still some work left to finish. Choosing the right bed for your child can be an overwhelming task. There's endless choice and variety, but for one Cedar City, Utah, father, the market didn't offer what he wanted. So, he built it. Thirty-two-year-old Allan Casper wished to give his son a cool car bed but wanted it to be a one-of-a-kind creation, and last May, he set out to do just that, designing and building a Ford Bronco bed. The project began in May of last year as Casper, a journeyman carpenter and certified flight instructor, began thinking about how he'd make the bed because he'd never made a piece of furniture like this before. The design came together over the summer before the actual building started in September 2020. It took seven months to get it mostly built, with Casper finishing the bulk of the Bronco bed assembly last month – his perfectionism slowed him down. It still needs taillights and bumpers. It's all but revealed. Update 2: It looks like the TikTok video that was the source of the leak has been removed. Instagram posts still show the car, however. Update: Another video from TikTok user laidoutdc4 added below walks around the car in detail inside and out. The video says this is an American-spec model located at a facility in Los Angeles, and the narrator specifically calls it the 400Z though the video shows no badging. Well, this was unexpected! We've known for some time that Nissan was prepping a production version of its Z Proto concept car . We've also known the production version wouldn't differ greatly from the concept. Kudos to Nissan for keeping the Z development shrouded in mystery, but now there's a crack in that shroud. Actually, the shroud is basically gone at this point. Hot off the press comes an Instagram post from Nissan Arabia , and boy is it a keeper. We don't have information on the location, and for obvious reasons we don't … [Read more...] about Next-Gen Nissan Z Spied In Production Form During Shipping [UPDATE]
The 16-year-old has stunned the motorcycle racing world in the first three races of his world championship career, having finished second and won twice – with his maiden win at the Doha Grand Prix coming from pitlane. This has left the Ajo KTM rider 31 points clear in the championship coming to this weekend’s Spanish GP at Jerez. Marquez – who had a similarly blazing rise through the ranks to MotoGP from 2009 to 2013 – heaped praise on Acosta and is sure he will be in MotoGP soon. “Yeah, of course I already speak with before and his riding style is good, his talent is good, he’s fast,” Marquez said on Thursday at Jerez. “This is obvious with the results. Of course, being here on the press conference with MotoGP riders at 16 years old, I think it’s difficult to accept for him because maybe too much pressure. “But what I say is forget about everything, enjoy it now. “You are a young talented kid and if he wins on Sunday it will be ok, if he finishes top five, … [Read more...] about Marquez: Star Moto3 rookie Acosta will be in MotoGP “soon”
