Sebastian Vettel was voted Driver of the Weekend for the second race in a row after his victory in the Australian Grand Prix. The Ferrari driver topped the poll of F1 Fanatic readers for the third time in the last four races. Here’s why. Sebastian Vettel’s Australian Grand Prix weekend After a low-key Friday Vettel topped the final practice times and split the Mercedes drivers in qualifying. That proved crucial, as it put him in position to apply pressure to Lewis Hamilton . Unable to shake Vettel, Hamilton made an early pit stop which dropped him behind Max Verstappen . A few quick laps allowed Vettel to seize his opportunity to come out ahead of the Mercedes driver and start his season with a win. F1 22 game review: A worthy upgrade, despite glamorisation
Listen to this article F1 2022 is the 13 th successive official game created by Codemasters’ Birmingham outpost. For the most part, you know what to expect – a driving video game with all the real world F1 stars, tracks and cars that is both authentic and accessible. Except, this time, it’s not called F1 2022, but EA SPORTS F1 22, and there is an electronic dance music soundtrack, Oakley sunglasses and Ferrari road cars. With the development studio purchased by Redwood City-based publishing giant Electronic Arts last year for $1.2 billion , this is the season where the change of ownership has clearly taken hold. The EA influence predominately takes the form of F1 Life. In essence, a swanky living area where you can alter the look of the wallpaper and furniture, before creating your own avatar with branded clothing – more of which can be purchased with in-game currency, either earned or purchased with real-world money. Oh joy. This forms the backdrop to the main … [Read more...] about F1 22 game review: A worthy upgrade, despite glamorisation
No hard tyres again for Italian Grand Prix · RaceFans
Formula One’s official tyre supplier Pirelli will continue to avoid using its hard compound tyre at the Italian Grand Prix. The Monza circuit is the quickest on the F1 calendar but this will be the third year in a row the hard tyre compounds won’t be used at the race. The super-soft tyre will be the mandatory compound for qualifying. Drivers will have to keep at least one set of the soft and medium compounds tyres available to use in the race and run at least one of them. The hard tyre has only been used at the Circuit de Catalunya so far this year and is now unlikely to reappear before the end of the season. The tyre selections are yet to be announced for the races in the USA, Mexico, Brazil and Abu Dhabi. 2017 F1 tyre compounds so far Circuit 2016 tyres 2017 tyres Melbourne Medium Soft Super-soft Soft Super-soft Ultra-soft Shanghai Medium Soft Super-soft Medium Soft Super-soft Bahrain Medium Soft Super-soft Medium … [Read more...] about No hard tyres again for Italian Grand Prix · RaceFans
Singapore not Red Bull’s last chance to win in ’17 – Ricciardo – F1 Fanatic
Daniel Ricciardo believes the Singapore Grand Prix will be one of Red Bull’s best chances to win a race before the end of 2017, but not their only one. Red Bull’s only victory of the year so far was scored by Ricciardo in Azerbaijan. He says the next street track on the calendar presents a strong opportunity for the team. “I believe Singapore won’t be our only chance but is one of our best chances of a win in the second half of the season,” said Ricciardo. “I’ve started second and finished second at this track in the last two years, with fastest lap both times,” he added, “so my aim this year is definitely to start on pole and try to go one better in the race.” Red Bull showed promising pace at Monza, a circuit which wasn’t expected to suit them. The team qualified second and third before taking engine change penalties and Ricciardo climbed twelve places in the race to finish fourth ahead of one of the Ferraris. The team has again selected a large quantity of the ultra-soft … [Read more...] about Singapore not Red Bull’s last chance to win in ’17 – Ricciardo – F1 Fanatic
Max and Red Bull will be out for revenge at Silverstone
The drops of champagne had barely dried in Montreal before Red Bull’s attention turned firmly to the British Grand Prix. With six victories in succession, 2022 has rapidly become that sort of season for Red Bull and the races cannot come quickly enough as Max Verstappen continues to march towards a second consecutive World Championship. With memories of last year’s event – and the first-lap collision at Copse between Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton – still fresh in the mind, though, it is clear Silverstone is not just another race in the minds of Red Bull. “We’re going there fired up and trying to put right what happened last year,” team principal Christian Horner told Sky Sports underneath the podium in Canada. They may have elevated themselves to a whole new level in 2022, but Red Bull have never quite been able to let go of the bitterness and resentment that followed the sudden and violent ignition of the Verstappen-Hamilton rivalry a year ago. Their displeasure has … [Read more...] about Max and Red Bull will be out for revenge at Silverstone
