Bizzarrini Giotto Debuts With Naturally Aspirated V12, Giugiaro Design
Bizzarrini was founded by former Ferrari and Alfa Romeo engineer Giotto Bizzarrini in the 1960s to build high-end, low-volume sports cars. Before going his own way, the talented man was directly involved in the development of iconic cars such as the 250 GTO and the 250 GT SWB "Breadvan." Not only that, he also worked on Lamborghini's first V12 engine through his engineering company Societa Autostar. He also worked for Iso Rivolta before founding Societa Prototipi Bizzarrini (Bizzarrini S.p.A) in 1964. Some 140 vehicles were assembled at a plant in Livorno before the company went bust in 1969. Fast forward to 2020, Pegasus Brands acquired the rights to the "Bizzarrini" name in a bid to revive the brand. The 5300GT was brought back to life as a continuation model for a limited production run of 24 units, and now, Bizzarrini is previewing an all-new car. Mercedes give fans rare insight into how F1 pedals and drinks system work
Mercedes have offered a unique demonstration of how the pedals and drinks systems work in a Formula 1 car. Over the course of a dramatic Formula 1 Grand Prix, it’s easy to forget that the modern-day gladiators piloting the Formula 1 cars are mere humans and, as a drawback of that, have human needs such as basic hydration. During a tough Grand Prix, particularly in the hot sweaty climes of the likes of Singapore, drivers can lose several kilos during the race – it’s critical that drivers are able to have as much fluid as they can drink during the ordeal. Kimi Raikkonen may have become a meme in the final years of his F1 career after suffering a few ‘drinks bottle’ failures, ie. “No, Kimi, you will not have the drink”, but it’s a potentially serious failure if a driver was to suffer from complete dehydration. Of course, the cars aren’t literally fitted with a drinks bottle, nor with refrigeration. The fluids are put into what is essentially a bag, with a tube linking the bag to … [Read more...] about Mercedes give fans rare insight into how F1 pedals and drinks system work
See The Electric Car Nissan Wants To Drive 17,000 Miles From Pole To Pole
Nissan’s new electric vehicle is about to go on an epic adventure. The automaker today revealed the modified Ariya that will make the 17,000-mile trek from the North Pole to the South Pole that starts later this year. It’s been beefed up for the trip, but the company kept the mods to a minimum while showcasing its battery-electric powertrain. The biggest upgrades are its most noticeable – the suspension and tires. Nissan gave the electric crossover a beefier suspension and chunky 39-inch BF Goodrich tires, widening the fenders to accommodate the modified gear. On top, the automaker installed a roof-mounted utility unit that houses a deployable drone. Inside, the automaker integrated an espresso machine to make the mornings out in the wilderness a bit more manageable. Watch Porsche 959 Prepare For Restoration By Losing Its Body Panels
Porsche recently unveiled the 911 Dakar as a high-riding, more rugged model that pays homage to the brand's success in the famous off-road rally. In a new video, the company showcases the restoration of a 959 from the 1986 running of the event. The team of Jacky Ickx and Claude Brasseur drove this 959 to a second-place finish in that year's rally. René Metge and Dominique Lemoine won that year in another 959, and a third entry scored sixth place. All three remain in the automaker's collection. Gallery: Porsche Preserves 959 Paris-Dakar 32 Photos Porsche Classic and the crew from the Porsche Heritage and Museum team handled the car's sympathetic refurbishment. They left the damage to the body because it tells the vehicle's story. However, all of the body panels came off to give the machine a mechanical restoration. "As this was not an everyday thing for us, it was … [Read more...] about Watch Porsche 959 Prepare For Restoration By Losing Its Body Panels

2024 Toyota Grand Highlander Teaser Offers Peek Inside Three-Row SUV
The 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander will debut on February 8. A new teaser provides our first look at the cabin, specifically the third row. Toyota's teaser describes the Grand Highlander as an "active family cruiser." It claims the third row has enough legroom to fit adults and space in the cargo area for seven pieces of luggage. The Highlander is already a three-row SUV. At the very back, there are 28.0 inches (71.12 centimeters) of legroom. Presumably, the Grand Highlander's extra length would increase the amount of space there. The teaser image of the cabin shows that there are large cupholders on each side of the third row. There's also a spot for plugging in devices. HVAC vents are near the roof. An earlier teaser (above) gave us a look at the back of the Grand Highlander. Where the standard model has narrow taillights with sharp edges, the lamps on this vehicle have a boxy shape. The model name has a prominent position beneath the rear window. Rosenqvist won’t let 2024 Palou speculation distract him
Listen to this article Despite Arrow McLaren’s expansion to three cars for this season, Rosenqvist’s job was under threat last summer, with Pato O’Ward remaining on board, Alexander Rossi having been signed in spring, and 2021 IndyCar champion Alex Palou seemingly set to join the squad. However, Palou was unable to extricate himself from the Ganassi squad for 2023, and thus was unable to replace Rosenqvist as he had done at Ganassi in ’21. At that point, McLaren CEO Zak Brown was more than happy to retain Rosenqvist for this year, but there still appears to be one McLaren driver’s ride under threat for ’24, assuming Palou joins the squad next year. Yet Rosenqvist denied that it’s something that occupies his thoughts. “First of all, I don't know what's going to happen in the future. That's a long time until next year. “As I said, I think it's a great opportunity for me. I'm in a good spot. I'm in a well-performing team, not only in Arrow McLaren but my #6 car I think is … [Read more...] about Rosenqvist won’t let 2024 Palou speculation distract him
Mazda CX-8 Goes To Oz, On Its Way To Australia
Australian crossover buyers willing to sacrifice some practicality for sharper style will soon be able to add the Mazda CX-8 to their shopping lists. Mazda announced the addition to the lineup in an email newsletter, according to Car Advice , but the automaker didn't specify exact timing for the launch. More Mazda Crossover News: Mazda launched the CX-8 in Japan in December 2017 as its three-row crossover for the market – the CX-9 isn't available there. The CX-8 and CX-9 share a 115-inch (2,930-millimeter) wheelbase, but the CX-8 is 6.9 inches (175 mm) shorter in total length. It's also narrower and has a lower overall height than the CX-9. What the CX-8 gives up in space, it makes up in style. Up front, the top of the crossover's hood juts forward, giving it an aggressive attitude. Narrow headlights wrap around each side. In profile, a steeper rake for the windshield and hatchback create a sharper look than the CX-9. Inside, both models feature high quality … [Read more...] about Mazda CX-8 Goes To Oz, On Its Way To Australia
