New report claims Houston Astros games are the fourth-most expensive family experience in MLB
If you're an Astros fan with kids, I have good news and bad news this summer. The good news is the team is great, and you can take the little ones to watch them play in a mostly air-conditioned juice box while the world outside melts into a blur of ERCOT conservation notices . The bad news is attending an Astros game in 2022 is the fourth-most expensive experience in the league for families, according to a recent analysis by The Hustle's Zachary Crockett. Houston Astros Tickets Vivid Seats Shop Now Over the weekend, Crockett published a report analyzing the growing costs of popular American family activities over the last 60 years. The activities Crockett measured were attending a movie at a theater, taking your kids on a one-day visit to Disneyland, and enjoying an evening watching America's pastime. Utilizing data from FanCostIndex, Crockett found the average cost for a family of four to attend an Astros game in 2022 is $293.74. How Tortas Frontera became one of America’s best airport restaurants
On Feb. 4, 2011, celebrity chef Rick Bayless was at Chicago O'Hare International Airport to pose with a pair of giant scissors. The award-winning restaurateur, cookbook author and PBS host was attending a ribbon-cutting ceremony for his newest Mexican restaurant, Tortas Frontera. A mariachi band played as travelers grabbed free samples. Looking back, Bayless never thought it was an accomplishment he'd want to celebrate. "I never wanted to be in an airport," he said recently. "It was the city of Chicago - they kept knocking on the door saying, 'We want you to be at the airport. We want you to be at the airport,' and I just kept turning them down." Chicago persisted. Bayless negotiated. Under the condition that the chef could have complete freedom to choose his suppliers and manage recipes himself, the two parties reached an agreement. Hence the giant scissors. In the time since Tortas Frontera arrived in Terminal 1, the restaurant has added additional O'Hare locations in Terminals … [Read more...] about How Tortas Frontera became one of America’s best airport restaurants
How David Malukas has become another Coyne success story
Listen to this article Fans of Family Guy will be familiar with the several times when Peter Griffin has clumsily demolished the front of his pal Cleveland’s house while the occupant is in the bathtub. Suddenly the bathroom floor tilts forward, and Cleveland rides the porcelain down to his front lawn, yelling with increasing anxiety, “No, No, Noo, Nooo, Noooo!” Myself and those around me sounded much the same while watching David Malukas and Takuma Sato battle through the final stint of Iowa Speedway’s second race, convinced at least one of them was going to end up in the SAFER barrier. The 0.894-mile oval can induce several moments like these, but here were two teammates – one a rookie, the other a veteran famed for not conceding defeat – and of course, intra-team clashes that end in damage for either or both cars are motorsport’s big no-no-noo-nooo, etc. But the newbie and the oldtimer played nice and survived. And Malukas prevailed in their fight to come home eighth, a … [Read more...] about How David Malukas has become another Coyne success story
Chill Like A Villain With Ice Cream Flavors Inspired By Porsche Colors
Listen to this article We've seen so many commercials in our lifetime as automotive journalists that we thought nothing would surprise us by now, but not today. In a cool way to showcase its custom colors, Porsche North America collaborated with Pretty Cool Ice Cream to bring Americans a taste of the automaker's paint colors in ice cream form. No, the ice cream flavors don't have paint in them. Rather, the small handmade ice cream company in Chicago, Illinois produced custom flavors inspired by a number of Porsche custom colors. Even better, the special ice cream flavors (with equally special packaging) were delivered using a custom Porsche 911 , as seen in the video above. 2023 Ford Explorer Facelift Revealed In China With 27-Inch Screen
Listen to this article "American sophistication meets Chinese sophistication" is how Ford prefers to describe the recently unveiled 2023 Explorer for the People's Republic. The midsize SUV is labeled as being an all-new model, but in reality, it's just a heavy update for the current generation. Right off the bat, we can observe the front grille has been made substantially wider and uses a heavy dose of chrome while being flanked by fully redesigned LED headlights. The side profile reveals 21-inch alloy wheels with a turbine fan design and there are more changes at the back where the wider taillights take after those of the smaller Equator also sold in China. Prominent "Explorer" lettering on the tailgate replaces where the Ford badge used to be, with the Blue Oval now sitting slightly lower between the taillights. It's joined by a chrome bar that's hinner but wider than before. 2023 Ford Explorer (CN) 38 Photos … [Read more...] about 2023 Ford Explorer Facelift Revealed In China With 27-Inch Screen

‘Easter Sunday’: Comedy about Filipino American culture rings true-ish
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 5 You don't have to be of Filipino descent to get the movie "Easter Sunday," loosely based on the life experience of Filipino American stand-up comic Jo Koy and centering on a man trying to navigate the fractured dynamic of a holiday with his extended family. But it does help. (Full disclosure: My parents moved from the Philippines to Washington, D.C., where I was born, in the 1950s.) Despite its broad comedy, typical of "Dukes of Hazzard" director Jay Chandrasekhar, the film has some tender and wise moments. And even if you don't get all the ethnic jokes, there's plenty of family drama that anybody will recognize, no matter their background. Koy plays Joe Valencia, a Los Angeles comedian trying to land a part on a sitcom. (ABC recently rejected the pilot of a sitcom starring Koy but is reportedly interested in redeveloping the show.) Joe auditions well - producers … [Read more...] about ‘Easter Sunday’: Comedy about Filipino American culture rings true-ish
Biden, Republicans spar over impact of Dems’ economic plan
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 6 WASHINGTON (AP) — Democrats call it the “Inflation Reduction Act.” Republicans say it's a “tax and spending spree.” And everyone has a study they say proves it. Recent bipartisan action in Congress on matters ranging from producing computer chips to expanding NATO isn’t extending to the latest economic package from Democrats, which is generating a battle of dueling statistics and projections over whether it would help or hurt the economy. For President Joe Biden, the Senate Democrats’ $739 billion package can help lower inflation, cut the budget deficit, address climate change and lower medical bills — a message that he’s trying to sell to the wider country amid intense Republican criticism. Biden appeared at a virtual event Thursday to highlight the proposal with leaders from General Motors, Cummins, Kaiser Permanente and the AFL-CIO, among other organizations. … [Read more...] about Biden, Republicans spar over impact of Dems’ economic plan
