Now, Rolls-Royce is taking things a step further with a $325,000-plus entry of its own that promises to be the most well-appointed off-road-capable vehicle ever built. The 2019 Rolls-Royce Cullinan is more expensive, and perhaps more opulent than the Bentayga, but does that mean it’s also the better-looking of the pair? Both SUVs do a good job of sticking with the style traditions of their respective brands. Up front, the Cullinan features a protruding rectangular grille and boxy headlights much like the new Rolls-Royce Phantom. In fact, the entire front end, including the vents, is dominated by boxy shapes. Bentley’s entry has a slightly softer look, with less aggressive hood lines, circular … [Read more...] about Refreshing or Revolting: Rolls-Royce Cullinan vs. Bentley Bentayga

A housing association is asking the planning inspector to overturn a ban on its plans to demolish the majority of a historic Chelsea housing estate and replace it with a mix of rented and private homes. Clarion Housing Group’s plans for the Sutton Estate off Cale Street were turned down by Kensington and Chelsea council in 2016. Campaigners fighting to save the estate include actress Felicity Kendal and Labour campaigner and comedian Eddie Izzard . The appeal starts today in the council chamber at Kensington town hall. Planning inspector Philip Ware will hear evidence for seven days. The estate was funded by Victorian businessman William Sutton who made his fortune from a door to door postal service. He left his fortune to provide homes for people on low incomes. The housing association said its plans “are designed to secure the future of social housing in the heart of Chelsea and provide our residents with good quality new homes with a private balcony or terrace, … [Read more...] about Housing association hopes to overturn ban on demolition of Chelsea estate
Yes, Tom Cairney was at Chelsea vs West Ham on Sunday, congratulations to those eagle-eyed viewers who saw him sat behind the Hammers dugout. People have been busy trying to figure out what it means for the Fulham skipper's future - he's been linked to David Moyes' side in the past so it must mean something that he just so happens to be watching one of their games only yards behind their dugout. In reality, the truth is far less exciting (isn't it always?) The fact is, him and QPR striker Matt Smith, who happen to be best friends, went along to watch a game of football that happens to be conveniently located close to where the pair live. Read More Latest Fulham news It also just so happened to be West Ham that Chelsea were playing. It's quite normal to see well-known faces sat behind the dugouts at Stamford Bridge - it seems to be the place where people who are in the public eye generally sit. We've seen the youth team sat behind there numerous times, as well as that bloke that … [Read more...] about Why Cairney was at Chelsea vs West Ham and what it means
Here we are again with the 2016 Proton Saga, a model that Proton’s deputy CEO Datuk Radzaif Mohamed describes as the national carmaker’s “most important model” yet. There’s a lot of history with the nameplate, with “value” being the main unique selling point during its over three decade of existence. With many new carbuyers entering the market, their first choice should be something that can deliver on multiple fronts, while not having to pay a pretty penny. Proton is hoping the Saga meets all these requirements, and with prices starting at RM36,800 (up to RM45,800), it already hits the “affordable” point. Our first impressions of the new Saga has been a rather positive one, but a drive around a test track doesn’t tell the whole story. Which is why we’ve been invited to sample the most affordable Proton on a drive up north towards Ipoh, to see what things are like in the real world. Will it continue to impress? Read on … [Read more...] about DRIVEN: 2016 Proton Saga review – is the comeback real?
At xBhp we normally do not have anything to do with cars. Except in the rare instances when the cars are prefixed with the word ‘super’! The Auto Expo 2016 was of course a perfect setting for people to visit and ogle at the gorgeous motorcycles on display, but some cars were sufficiently beautiful to grab our interest. So here are a bunch of ‘superb’cars which we captured through our lenses and we hope you will appreciate these vehicles as much as we did! Hopefully we would get a chance to jump behind the wheel for another iteration of Driver vs. Rider. Honda Project 2&4 Now most readers of xBhp are not used to the shock of seeing cars on this forum, so we will ease you into this different world by first presenting a motorcycle, er car. Err, the Honda Project 2&4. Where the Japanese company has beautifully amalgamated the adrenalin pumping nature of two-wheelers with that of four. It houses a litre engine derived for MotoGP in it and can easily be … [Read more...] about Auto Expo 2016: The Car Pavilions!
With the release of the complete data for Malaysian vehicle sales in 2017 by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) earlier today, it’s time for an annual report on how the industry and brands fared last year. It had been promising, and even up to November the total industry volume (TIV) for 2017 remained on course to best that achieved in 2016, even if just by a shade. However, this didn’t come to be – despite continued improvement in sales during the final month of the year the numbers in December was still 15.6% (or 10,104 units) less than that managed in the corresponding period in 2016, and the final TIV total of 576,635 vehicles for 2017 was lower by 0.6% than the 2016 TIV, which was 580,085 units. The lacklustre finish in December was attributed to floods in certain parts of Peninsular Malaysia as well as on promotions offered much earlier in the year, which the MAA deemed “excessive.” Whatever the case may be, the end result is that it’s … [Read more...] about Vehicle sales performance in Malaysia, 2017 vs 2016 – a look at last year’s biggest winners and losers
► Fiesta vs Ibiza vs Clio ► Sharp superminis face off ► Is the Ford still top dog?As tough acts to follow go, the old Fiesta is right up there with the current monarch and Elvis Presley. Not only was it the best-selling car in its class, the last Fiesta was the best-selling Ford and the best-selling car in the UK full stop. It did this for seven consecutive years, up to its final full year on sale in 2016. That kind of success can give you sleepless nights if you happen to be New Fiesta Person at Ford. But here it is. Trust us – we've not accidentally parked a late-reg old model in front of the camera. Ford has previous when it comes to designs almost imperceptibly different from the outgoing model, but the exterior of the old car hadn't dated as horribly as the interior, and given the stakes it's hardly a surprise Ford has played safe. There's more considered evolution elsewhere, with the Ford's platform and suspension directly descended from what came before, … [Read more...] about Ford Fiesta vs Seat Ibiza vs Renault Clio triple test (2017) review
The new, third-generation 2016 Audi TT follows in the footsteps of the groundbreaking J Mays-designed concept from 1995. But the genetic chain actually goes back much farther, to the DKW Monza 3=6 coupe. The cute compact coupe was introduced in 1956 by DKW, the sole survivor of the Auto Union group of car manufacturers (Audi, DKW, Horch, Wanderer). Both sports cars shown here were developed in Ingolstadt: the very first The latest TT, designed under the leadership of Wolfgang Egger, is an evolutionary car whose silhouette and proportions have barely changed from the second-generation TT’s. The most notable new twists are a kink in the C-pillar, state-of-the-art headlights (adaptive matrix LED beams, if you so desire), and LED taillamps. The TT moves onto the same MQB architecture as the seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf and has a wheelbase that’s 1.5 inches longer, although overall it’s marginally shorter and narrower than its predecessor. Since all body panels … [Read more...] about Then vs. Now: 2016 Audi TTS vs. 1958 DKW Monza
