Home Car reviews oi-Promeet Ghosh By Promeet Ghosh Updated: Saturday, March 6, 2021, 17:29 [IST] Rating: 4.0 It has almost been less than two years since the seventh-gen 3 Series was launched in India. Earlier this year in January, BMW India brought in the long-wheelbase 3 Series Gran Limousine in the country. That however does not seem to be enough and just a couple of months later after the long-wheelbase launch, BMW has come up with the locally-assembled M340i xDrive. We had a chance to drive the all-new BMW M340i xDrive for a couple of days and boy the car left us staggered. One more thing is that this is the first M car to be assembled in India. So, we took the car and went for a drive in the city and on the highway and here is what we have to say about it. Exterior & Design At first glance, when you see the car upfront it will be difficult for you to tell that this is a performance-oriented sedan … [Read more...] about BMW M340i xDrive Review (First Drive): The First Locally Assembled ‘M’ Car

Alesi: Japan offered best opportunity after F2 exit
Following a maiden test run in a Formula 1 car in January, it was announced that Alesi would leave the Ferrari Driver Academy with immediate effect, having lost faith in the junior racing ladder in Europe. The Frenchman won four races during his time in GP3 between 2016-18 but struggled to replicate that success on his step up to F2, managing a best race finish of sixth during his two seasons in the grand prix feeder series. The 21-year-old is now set for double duty in Japan in 2021, combining his full season commitments in Super Formula Lights (previously All-Japan Formula 3) with another programme in SUPER GT’s GT300 class . He follows in the footsteps of a number of European-based drivers who’ve raced in the Far East in recent years, joining the likes of Nick Cassidy, Sacha Fenestraz, Alex Palou and Tatiana Calderon. Explaining the reasons behind his switch to Japan’s domestic motor racing scene, Alesi, son of grand prix winner Jean and Japanese singer Kumiko … [Read more...] about Alesi: Japan offered best opportunity after F2 exit

FULL ENTRY FOR BULLDOG INTERNATIONAL RALLY OF NORTH WALES Wolverhampton and South Staffordshire Car Club are delighted at the response to the first Bulldog International Rally of North Wales, which takes place next weekend, and has attracted a capacity entry. With almost 200 applications for the 180 places received, the organising team has been overwhelmed by the excitement that has greeted the new event. There are seven previous British Champions (Russell Brookes, Gwyndaf Evans, David Higgins, Mark Higgins, Dessie Nutt, Steve Perez and David Stokes) but only two past winners of the Bulldog (Brookes and Julian Reynolds) in the line up. Mark Higgins, from Abermule, has been given the top seed in the international event. Mark, a previous double British Champion, leads the International field in his TEG Sport Subaru. Chasing the Subaru will be over thirty of the UK's top junior (under 25) drivers all out to prove they can topple the previous champ. The international entry is … [Read more...] about North Wales: Event preview
Sébastien Ogier in ‘Historic’ run at Rallyday 2013
Ogier has all-but won the 2013 WRC Drivers’ title following his sixth win of the season on Rally Australia and the Volkswagen Motorsport driver was in demand on his debut at Rallyday, taking time out to chat to the large crowd on the main Rallyday interview stage, as well as signing hundreds and hundreds of autographs. The Frenchman, who is normally used to driving a Volkswagen Polo R WRC, got the chance to sample a genuine ex-works Group B Audi quattro A2, originally driven by 1984 World Rally Champion Stig Blomqvist, who was also attending the annual rally extravaganza in the West Country. It was Ogier’s first ever drive in a historic rally car and that made the day extra special for the 29-year-old, who flew over especially from France. “It was my first time at Rallyday and it was fun to drive the Audi quattro A2. I have never driven a historic car in my life until today. So it was a nice opportunity,” Ogier said. “It is very different to the Polo R WRC I drive normally. … [Read more...] about Sébastien Ogier in ‘Historic’ run at Rallyday 2013
WRC star Neuville rolls out of Rally Ypres lead
He rolled at high speed into a ditch on SS6 while heading Bryan Bouffier in a lead battle in which the gap between the pair was under three seconds. In a one-off appearance on the event in a Hyundai Belgium-backed i20 R5, 29-year-old Neuville returned on Saturday morning under Rally2 regulations where drivers can restart on the next day if they have retired. “I just came in to fast and didn’t expect there to be so much gravel on the road,” said Neuville. “There was no chance to turn through the corner. “I planned to take it quite fast, and when I saw the gravel I tried to brake harder, but I understeered and I went off.” The mechanics worked on the car until 5am to get Neuville back out. Skoda Fabia R5 driver Bouffier inherited the lead over sometime Hyundai-works driver Kevin Abbring, now driving a Peugeot 208 T16 R5. The 2011 Monte Carlo Rally winner took a 21.9s lead into the final day of the event on Saturday. Vincent Verschuren, a favourite for the … [Read more...] about WRC star Neuville rolls out of Rally Ypres lead
