Imported cars are prohibitively expensive in the country. Global poverty rates fell over the last decade alongside a burgeoning middle class. However, not everyone has had the opportunity to buy the latest and greatest from the world’s largest automakers. Countries like Tunisia make it prohibitively expensive to buy a new car, leading many to look at the used market, or not at all, though there’s a homegrown solution called Wallys Car. It offers the Iris, a hand-built car that starts at $13,000. Half of the car’s cost is tied up in its imported engine from France, though it fits inside the Tunisian-assembled fiberglass body. The partly sum is still wildly expensive for many middle-class budgets, though far cheaper than most new cars. The Business Insider video above notes that a new Toyota Corolla could start at over $30,000 in the African country. Even a used car like a Ford Fiesta is often twice as expensive there as it would be in the US. But what does $13,000 get … [Read more...] about Tunisian-Built Fiberglass SUV Offers Cheap Mobility For $13K

VW’s Project Trinity EV will be surprisingly cheap
Despite cutting edge tech, you should be able to afford one. The Volkswagen Project Trinity aims to create a new electric vehicle architecture, a radical production approach for it, and autonomous driving tech. VW CEO Ralf Brandstätter told Germany's Welt am Sonntag newspaper that despite these lofty goals that the model resulting from this work would only cost around 35,000 euros (approx. £31,000 at current exchange rates). Brandstätter told the paper that the vehicle coming out of Project Trinity would be a "dynamic and streamlined car with a length of just over four metres (157.5 inches)." For comparison, a Tesla Model 3 is about 4.7 metres (185 inches) long. Gallery: VW Mobile EV Charging Robot Prototype 3 Photos VW's goal is to give the model Level 3 self-driving capability. So DMC Built Aircraft Tugs Back In The Day, You Can Buy One For Cheap
When this baby hits 8 mph, you're gonna see some serious $hit. On this episode of "things you see on the interwebs," we just discovered that the DeLorean Motor Company (DMC) built aircraft tow tugs back in the day – and we found a rare example on Craigslist for sale. Yes, pardon our ignorance, but it isn't every day that we see a famed sports car company and pop culture icon nameplate being attached to slow things like tractors. Oh wait, there's Lamborghini . So we've done a quick research and found out that DMC or specifically, John DeLorean, apparently bought the snowcat division of Thiokol during the '70s. It spelled the birth of Logan Manufacturing Company (LMC) in 1978. Perkins gave blessing for DJR number switch
As first reported by Motorsport.com , Anton De Pasquale will run the #11 for his first campaign with DJR. He'll debut the new number at Sandown this weekend after starting the season with #100 as part of a Pirtek promotion. Explaining the number switch, DJR boss Ryan Story said De Pasquale floated the idea of running the #11, but was told the team would need permission from the man who made the number famous, Larry Perkins. Perkins agreed and handed over the number in a special ceremony this morning. "When Anton joined the team, I asked him what number he would like to run as Will was going to drive the iconic #17," said Story. "Anton said he'd love to run number 11 because it was such a key part of his success in Europe where he won many races with it. I told him we could only do so with LP's blessing. "Number 11 is an iconic number in our sport, and to me it will always be Larry's number. Despite it not having been used for the past few seasons, I thought … [Read more...] about Perkins gave blessing for DJR number switch
