Mopar unleashed the 1000-hp, $30,000 Hellephant crate engine upon the world last year. Instantly, the crooked gears in our brains began turning. But the engine's announcement was a tease, and the amped-up Hellcat crate engine has eluded parts catalogues ever since. Until now.Today, 4/26, called Hemi day in honor of that most historic displacement—426 cubic inches—Fiat Chrysler will begin taking pre-orders for the Hellephant. This begs the question, which rolling chassis makes for the best Hellephant swap? We’ve got a few ideas to get you going. Gentlemen, start your orders. 1968 Dodge Dart With half a lick of sense (and no imagination), you’d embrace FCA’s targeted nostalgia, and cram Hellephant power into the engine bay of an old-school Mopar brawler. Better yet, for continuity, pick a canvas endowed with 426 Hemi power in-period. Let’s pass over your garden-variety Challengers, and Barracudas, and go straight to the top: the 1968 Dodge Hemi Dart. … [Read more...] about Here’s What We’d Stick Mopar’s 1000-HP Crate “Hellephant” Into

In 1969 Chevrolet Central Office Production Order (COPO) constructed only two ZL-1 factory-built Corvettes, which would later become a pair of the rarest Corvettes ever built. As an ode to these super cars, Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE) of Tom’s River, New Jersey will build 25 limited edition Yenko/SC Stage II Corvettes. This amped up Yenko/SC Corvette is based on the 2019 Corvette Grand Sport coupe and convertible models. If you’re a Chevrolet Corvette with an overwhelming desire to shut the Dodge Demon people up for good, New Jersey-based GM tuner Specialty Vehicle Engineering has the answer to your troubles with a famed name from Chevy’s tuner past. The company is now selling bored, stroked, and supercharged 1,000 horsepower Corvette Grand Sports at Chevrolet dealerships. Because why not more-than-double the stock horsepower? The company, whose Corvettes we’ve seen before and which was formerly called Street Legal Performance (you might remember its Pontiac G8 Firehawk from a few years back), is offering the 2019 YENKO/SC® Stage II 1000 HP Corvette as a limited edition run of only 25. In true American form, Specialty Vehicle Engineering says in its brochure that there’s “no substitute for cubic inches or supercharging,” which is why the 1000 HP Corvette features a 6.8-liter bored and stroked V8 based on the Grand Sport’s factory 6.2-liter LT-1 engine. … [Read more...] about The 2019 Yenko Corvette Is A 1000 HP Tire-Scorcher Available At Your Local Chevy Dealer
ABT is working on yet another crazy Audi RS6, dubbed the RS6-E and reportedly delivering up to 1000 HP. The German tuning company has teased the vehicle with a very brief Facebook clip. Unfortunately, it doesn’t actually show the car, but rather simply reveals its name. However, the name alone could reveal some information. More specifically, the presence of ‘E’ in the badge suggests that the vehicle will have some kind of electrification. Audi doesn’t have an electrified variant of the RS6, so if it’s indeed a hybrid, the technology will be sourced from elsewhere. As you probably know, ABT competes in Formula E alongside Audi Sport and Schaeffler. This gives the company access to the advanced electric powertrains used in the open-wheeled racing series. In fact, Schaeffler created an all-electric Audi RS3 just a few months ago using the powertrain of a Formula E car. Could ABT be about to do the same with the RS6? It’s entirely possible. … [Read more...] about ABT Teases 1000 HP Audi RS6-E, Could It Feature Some Kind Of Electrification?
