Despite reports linking several IndyCar drivers to his McLaren seat, Andreas Seidl has hinted McLaren want a long-term future with Daniel Ricciardo – one that could run into 2024. McLaren are expected to put Colton Herta in their car later this season for an FP1 run, the Woking team giving the American a trial that has pundits suggesting a Formula 1 drive could be in his future. There is also Pato O’Ward waiting in the wings, the Mexican having tested the MCL35M at last season’s end-of-season outing in Abu Dhabi. With both said to be options for McLaren, the Woking team will have to make a choice down the line – continue with Ricciardo or put a rookie in the car alongside Lando Norris. While Norris’ seat is guaranteed, the Briton having signed until the end of the 2025 season, Ricciardo’s is not . He has struggled to match Norris’ form, the Australian having scored 11 points to his team-mate’s 35, and there have been whispers it is just a matter of time before McLaren … [Read more...] about McLaren team boss hints at long-term Ricciardo stay

Charlie Day: Always Sunny in Philadelphia Creator Says You Shouldn’t Just ‘Do What Makes You Happy’
When you think "bearer of wisdom," actor Charlie Day probably isn't the first name that comes to mind. The creator and star of the popular TV series It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is a professional goof but is more recently known for his work in Jason Orley's romantic comedy, I Want You Back, steaming on Amazon Prime Video. Written by co-screenwriters Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger and working with Jenny Slate, Gina Rodriguez, Scott Eastwood, and Manny Jacinto on the project, Charles Day surprised critics with his dimensional performance. Back in 2014, the Monsters University actor addressed graduates at his alma mater Merrimack College and the filmmaker had some very interesting advice for the students. While acknowledging that he's no Steve Jobs - "I don't know how my computer works; I don't even know how my toaster works!" he told the audience -- Day had some genuine lessons to Merrimack College grads nonetheless. He spoke about the time, fresh out of college when … [Read more...] about Charlie Day: Always Sunny in Philadelphia Creator Says You Shouldn’t Just ‘Do What Makes You Happy’
The epic Loeb battle that ignited Ogier’s WRC career
Listen to this article "I have a new rival now." Those were the words uttered by then six-time world champion Sebastien Loeb in 2010 after losing a hard-fought Rally Portugal duel to Sebastien Ogier - as the young pretender to the World Rally Championship throne claimed a breakthrough maiden victory. It was a premonition as accurate as Loeb's precision behind the wheel that would help the Frenchman record a career nine world titles and 80 rally wins to date. Portugal 2010 marked the emergence of a new world order and challenger for Loeb. It was the precursor for several intense and sometimes controversial duels, until Loeb decided to bow out as a full-time WRC driver following his ninth title-winning campaign in 2012. Twelve years and a few battle scars later, Loeb and Ogier remain perhaps the two most revered names in the WRC. Ogier picked up the WRC baton previously held by Loeb at the end of 2012 to ensure the Sebastien dominance continued, winning eight of the … [Read more...] about The epic Loeb battle that ignited Ogier’s WRC career

Down two thrusters, Boeing’s Starliner docks with space station
With two thrusters out and a balky thermal control system, Boeing's Starliner spacecraft successfully docked with the International Space Station Friday evening, completing yet another important milestone in its uncrewed test flight after two previous failed attempts. Just over 25 hours after lifting off from Cape Canaveral, the autonomous spacecraft, which did not have any astronauts on board, docked itself to the station at 8:28 p.m. Eastern, overcoming a series of glitches, as Boeing works to eventually fly NASA astronauts in the capsule. Cheers broke out in mission control in celebration of the spacecraft's first docking with the station. The docking was originally scheduled for 7:10 p.m. but was delayed as controllers on the ground worked to confirm telemetry data and to ensure that lighting conditions were ideal and communications were stable. The docking was delayed again after a problem with the mechanism Starliner uses to dock with the station forced controllers to … [Read more...] about Down two thrusters, Boeing’s Starliner docks with space station
Rabble-rouser Suthep calls for a ‘truly independent’ governor
Former protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban says he supports Bangkok governor candidate Sakoltee Phattiyakul as he is running independently. (Photo: Somchai Poomlard) Former protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban on Friday insisted that the next Bangkok governor should be independent and free from any political affiliations. He also said he believes undecided voters will play a crucial role in deciding who will come out on top in Sunday's vote. In an exclusive interview with the Bangkok Post , Mr Suthep said he believed the capital's residents fear that vested political interests could throw local administration into disarray. "A Bangkok governor [with political affiliations] is likely seek to boost a political party's popularity instead of paying attention to tackling people's problems," said Mr Suthep, who led the now-defunct People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) protest movement against the Pheu Thai Party-led administration, which was subsequently toppled by the 2014 coup. … [Read more...] about Rabble-rouser Suthep calls for a ‘truly independent’ governor

It’s not worth the effort
It's not worth the effort This year could be the toughest yet for Prayut Chan-o-cha's administration although reasons abound why the prime minister will be able to sidestep traps and complete the government's four-year term in March next year, according to Democrat Party veteran, Thepthai Senpong. Thepthai: Only court stands in way Mr Thepthai, a former MP for Nakhon Si Thammarat, has stepped back from active political roles after he was stripped of his MP status by the Constitutional Court over his 2020 conviction for fraud in the 2014 election for the Nakhon Si Thammarat provincial administration organisation chief. However, he has managed to offer his opinion on unfolding, significant developments in politics. So, with a political storm looming large for Gen Prayut in the coming months, he did not pass up the opportunity to take to Facebook to speak his mind. Last week, Mr Thepthai wrote that nothing stood in the way of Gen Prayut hanging around until the government … [Read more...] about It’s not worth the effort
A welcome return
FOR ON-LINE The City officials are launch campaign to encourage voters to cast ballots electing Bangkok governors and city councillors tomorrow. (Photo by Somchai Poomlard). In tomorrow's Bangkok gubernatorial election voters will choose from 31 candidates. They'll also select from among 381 city council candidates, 50 of whom eventually will pass laws, scrutinise budgets and ensure accountability of administrators. Such elections have been part of the democratic process in Bangkok since 1975, when a law was passed enabling the capital's residents to pick their own governor, whereas other provinces had and still have provincial governors appointed by the Interior Ministry. Sunday's vote marks a return of at least one element of democracy as Bangkok gubernatorial elections have been suspended since the May 2014 coup d'etat. For the past eight years, Bangkok's governor and city councillors have been appointed by the junta government. During the period, much of the city's … [Read more...] about A welcome return
