The FIA World Endurance Championship has returned to the track, with just over a month having passed since the last race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Picking up from where they left off, Toyota Gazoo Racing led the way through the first practice session, whilst the Fords dominated in GT Pro. Two red flags caused around 45-minutes of stoppage time during the hour-and-a-half session, which pushed the FIA to extend the session by fifteen minutes. The first of the red flags ran for around half an hour, as Bruno Senna had a big incident in his #1 Rebellion Racing LMP1 car at Copse. The Brazilian climbed out of the car unaided, but was taken to the Silverstone medical centre for precautionary checks. It has since been announced by Rebellion that Senna has suffered a fracture to his ankle, and will take no further part in the race weekend. Details of the incident are, so far, unknown, but Andre Lotterer and Neel Jani will complete the rest of the 6 Hours of Silverstone as a duo. The second … [Read more...] about Toyota On Top of First Practice as Senna Gets Ruled Out of Silverstone Race
Bykolles racing team
The ByKolles Racing Team became the first to officially retire from the 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans after Dominik Kraihamer crashed heavily in the Porsche Curves after contact with the #80 GTE Am Ebimotors Porsche entry of Erik Maris. Kraihamer was attempting to lap the Frenchman but made contact with the Porsche, spinning him into the barriers and causing heavy damage to the LMP1 machine, ending their afternoon on the spot with no chance of the Austrian being able to return to the pits for repairs. It ended another disappointing race for ByKolles, who were also the first retirees twelve months ago with a mechanical issue with less than ten laps on the board, with the 2018 event starting in a slightly embarrassing manner before the flag was even flown to start it! Tom Dillmann was the nominated starting driver for the #4 ENSO CLM P1/01-Nismo machine but was unable to pull away from the grid when the rest of the field streamed away behind the pace car, with the delay forcing the Frenchman … [Read more...] about ByKolles Eliminated from Le Mans after Ebimotors Contact at Porsche Curves
[Read more...] about Alonso s’impose à Spa avec Toyota !
The Toyota Gazoo Racing team topped the timesheets for the first practice session of the 2018-19 FIA World Endurance Championship Super Season at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium. Sébastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima and Fernando Alonso took the #8 Toyota TS050 around the Belgian circuit with a lap time of 1:58.392, ahead of the sister #7 car of Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria Lopez, just 0.237 seconds off pace. The first of the non-hybrid cars was the #3 Rebellion R13 of Mathias Beche, Thomas Laurent and Gustavo Menezes with a time of 1:58.849 to go third fastest ahead of the #10 Dragonspeed car. Bruno Senna was the only driver to trouble the leaders as he took the #1 Rebellion R13 to second fastest mid-session before dropping down to fifth place. The #4 Bykolles Racing Team car finished sixth, ahead of SMP Racing’s #17 and #11 cars which were split by the LMP2 leaders Roberto Gonzalez, Pastor Maldonado and Nathanael Berthon in the #31 Dragonspeed car. Second … [Read more...] about Toyota’s top first practice at Spa-Francorchamps as Alonso sets fastest time
