It could be previewed this year through a final version of the Aventador. We're going to be brutally honest and admit we've lost count of how many Aventador versions Lamborghini has churned out in the last decade. The Murcielago's replacement came out in 2011, and while supercars don't usually follow the industry norm of a seven-year product life cycle, the mid-engined beast from Sant'Agata Bolognese is getting a bit long in the tooth. Not to worry as a replacement is finally coming according to a new report published by Autocar . The British magazine claims one of the two V12 models already confirmed by Lamborghini to debut later this year will effectively preview the Aventador successor scheduled for 2022. That would make sense considering the Reventon launched towards the end of 2007 ended up as a sneak preview of the Aventador. Verstappen gave Red Bull the first pole position of the 2021 season with a storming run to his fourth career pole at the Sakhir track on Saturday, finishing ahead of Mercedes duo Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas. After climbing from his W12 following Mercedes' first season opener qualifying defeat in the turbo hybrid era, Hamilton said he "absolutely gave it everything I had, but unfortunately it wasn't good enough". Speaking in the post-qualifying press conference, Hamilton revealed that the final gap to Verstappen was actually "definitely closer than we expected". "Coming in this weekend we thought it was double the gap that you see today. "And so that's really down to some really fantastic work from the men and women back at the factory and people here [at the track]. Derek Bell Le Mans legend and sometime Lola driver I think Eric Broadley designed the greatest sportscars out there for many years, especially the three-litre and the two-litre cars. I went testing with Eric at Paul Ricard. I’d driven the Mirage, but this was the Cosworth-engined T280 and it was a glorious car to drive. I went, ‘Wow, I wish this was the car that I had experienced more of’. Eric used to spread out all the drawing sheets of the car and say that we could raise that and you could see him changing pick-up points. They made a really great car and Eric did it all – Formula 3, 2 and Formula 1 and then Indycar and sportscars. He was just incredibly versatile. To work with him was just brilliant: he was so meticulous. 1973, Le Mans, #61 Lola T 280/282 Cosworth: Daniel Rouveyran, Christian Mons Photo by: Bill Murenbeeld / LAT Images John Barnard Junior Designer at Lola The only Lola that I can claim to have worked on solely from scratch is the … [Read more...] about Legends share their Lola memories
It’s called the Charlotte Roadster, and costs $1.6 million. Are you the type of person that scoffs at the plebeian offerings from Ferrari and Lamborghini ? Then maybe up-and-coming supercar maker Frangivento will be able to wow you with its latest build. The Charlotte roadster hails from Italy, and comes pre-loaded with an electric powertrain, a million-dollar price tag, and yes, even a saltwater fish tank. The supercar made its world debut at the Top Marques in Monaco in April, but was on display again just recently. Designer Giorgio Pirolo says the vehicle draws its inspiration from the Mediterranean. Leather, Alcantara, and wood surfaces throughout the cabin are said to recreate reflections off the water, so the fish tank makes sense… sort of. "The occupants of the two seats will feel as if they are diving into the sea thanks to the two ‘waves’ that envelop the Sarco seats right up to the door panels," reads the press release. "The fishes Nemo and Dory … [Read more...] about Frangivento Electric Supercar Has A Built-In Fish Tank… Say What?
