It's believed to be one of two movie cars remaining, but there's no mention of documentation to prove it. When it comes to the Fast & Furious movie franchise, the third Tokyo Drift installment comes with mixed reviews. We’ll avoid the inevitable street-racing-versus-global-paramilitary-mercenaries debate surrounding the series and just say that every film has its share of memorable cars. One of those from TD is now up for sale, specifically the 2002 Nissan 350Z driven by Takashi – AKA the Drift King and all-around bad guy. It puts 176 more horsepower to the wheels than the stock engine. Earlier this year, Hennessey Performance took the Ram TRX and cranked up the horsepower, introducing the Mammoth 1000. The company upgrades the engine to produce 1,012 horsepower (755 kilowatts) and 969 pound-feet (1,314 Newton-meters) of torque. Those are beastly numbers, but how much of that power makes it to the rear wheels? Hennessey put the monster on the dyno to find out, and it impresses. According to Hennessey, the Mammoth 1000 puts 761 hp (567 kW) and 701 lb-ft (950 Nm) of torque to the wheels. That’s a stunning amount of power, considering the stock supercharged 6.2-liter V8 makes 702 hp (523 kW) and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) of torque at the crank. It takes 4.5 seconds for the big truck to sprint to 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour), though the Mammoth does it in just 3.2 seconds. That’s gnawing at the bumper of some supercars. Rock out in your new Ram 1500. Last year was a rollercoaster for automakers with the coronavirus pandemic gnawing into sales. Ram almost outperformed the Chevy Silverado for the number two spot behind the Ford F-150, but Ram sales fell 11 percent from 2019 to 2020. To help close that sales gap, Ram is kicking off a new ad campaign with Foo Fighters’ frontman Dave Grohl. He makes a brief appearance in one but narrates both, with a third ad debuting later this month. The first two spots, “Rock Star” and “Overtime,” focus on parents, family caregivers, coaches, and teachers helping kids overcome their struggles, with a heavy presence of the Ram 1500, of course. The band’s music is also included in the ad campaign, featuring the opening song “Making a Fire” from its 2020 “Medicine at Midnight” album. The Foo Fighters is a shift away from the country music artists the brand has previously worked with, though Ram isn’t abandoning the genre for rock. It was way back in 1962 when Jeep introduced the “Gladiator” moniker for a fullsize pickup truck based on the Wagoneer. Much like the latter is making a comeback in standard and Grand Wagoneer forms, the “Gladiator” name is about to be revived if we were to rely on the rumor … [Read more...] about 2005 Jeep Gladiator: Concept We Forgot
