Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 3 The Russian military will soon exhaust its combat capabilities and be forced to bring its offensive in Ukraine's eastern Donbas region to a grinding halt, according to Western intelligence predictions and military experts. The assessments come despite continued Russian advances against outgunned Ukrainian forces, including the capture on Friday of the town of Severodonetsk, the biggest urban center taken by Russia in the east since launching the latest Donbas offensive nearly three months ago. The Russians are now closing in on the adjacent city of Lysychank, on the opposite bank of the Donetsk river. (Photo: Bloomberg) A wave of airline strikes and flight cancellations is deepening Europe’s transport crisis, disrupting travel plans just as the region’s peak summer season gets under way. Walkouts in coming days at Ryanair Holdings Plc, EasyJet Plc, British Airways and Aeroports de Paris (ADP) will add to the turmoil from staffing shortages that are leading to hours-long delays and thousands of scrapped flights. In the United Kingdom, the transport disarray has been compounded by a rail strike. Although travel demand has rebounded dramatically in Europe, what had been touted as the aviation industry’s long-awaited post-pandemic revival is being constrained by labour strife and limits in airport logistics. Chaotic scenes are playing out at airports in Amsterdam, London, Frankfurt and Paris, with lines of people waiting for hours only to be told their flights … [Read more...] about Europe’s travel woes deepen as strikes add to scrapped flights

BMW M Promises The Manual Transmission Will Live On
Listen to this article Despite the market trend and evidently dwindling sales of the manual, BMW M is going against the grain and promises that it's keeping the manual transmission alive. That's according to BMW M chief Frank van Meel, as reported by the UK's Autocar . The BMW M boss cited the demand for the stick shift based on the orders for the M2. According to van Meel, 50 percent of the M2 orders are for the manual, which makes the company determined to keep it alive for as long as possible despite the disadvantages the row-your-own transmission comes with. Gallery: 2023 BMW M2 Prototype: First Drive 124 Photos "From a technical viewpoint, there's little reason to save it. It’s heavier, it's slower and you get worse fuel consumption than the alternative. But the customer and the fanbase really love the manual. It gives a connection to allow them to … [Read more...] about BMW M Promises The Manual Transmission Will Live On

Greensmith angry by lack of marshal assistance after WRC Safari roll
Listen to this article The M-Sport driver rolled his Puma onto its side after getting caught in a rut on a slow right-hander during Stage 8 on Saturday morning. Greensmith and co-driver Jonas Andersson were trapped inside the car for three minutes with safety marshals in sight of the incident. As a result, Greensmith was forced to kick the windscreen out and to allow himself and Andersson to crawl out of the vehicle. Greensmith was keen to extricate the car quickly after seeing Oliver Solberg’s Hyundai quickly catch fire from a hot exhaust following a crash in Rally Croatia in April. A video has since emerged on social media showing Greensmith clearly irate at officials at the scene of the crash. “We were just driving trying to finish the rally,” Greensmith said. “We came into a long right that tightens into a medium right and it had some ruts in it. “It was the same as last year and I still had the caution in the notes, but it lifted from the rear and I … [Read more...] about Greensmith angry by lack of marshal assistance after WRC Safari roll
Tiny Rotary Engine Spinning At 30,000 RPM Sounds Insane
Listen to this article With so much power coming from a small-sized package, with an amazing song to sing, the Wankel rotary is one of the most-talked-about engines in recent and not-so-recent years. But fuel economy and emissions killed it, with the 2011 Mazda RX-8 bearing the final production Wankel rotary. Debates about its revival have been around since time immemorial but if you're finding excuses to love the rotary engine, Warped Perception 's latest video might just be one. What the video showcased is what could be the world's tiniest rotary engine, even smaller than the custom-built RC car rotary engine that we saw before. This example is a Toyan RS-S100 Single Rotor Wankel Rotary Engine and it measures a mere 0.14 cubic inches (2.4 cubic centimeters) and produces 0.7 horsepower (0.5 kilowatts). The rotor is so small that it dwarfed right next to the rotor of Mazda's 13B engine found in the RX-7. The Return Of The Rotary: Rumor Claims Mazda … [Read more...] about Tiny Rotary Engine Spinning At 30,000 RPM Sounds Insane
