BMW has launched the M340i xDrive 50 Jahre M Edition in India priced at Rs 68.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The special edition celebrates 50 years of BMW's high-performance M Division and the model is being locally assembled at BMW's India plant. The 50 Jahre M Edition comes with cosmetic updates over the standard M340i along with two special packages that further spice up the performance sedan's appeal. The M340i 50 Jahre M Edition is the first of the many launches as the company celebrates 50 years of the M Division. The 50 Jahre M Edition is about ₹ 3 lakh more expensive when compared to the standard version. The $84,000 luxury SUV is all-new for the 2023 model year as it migrates into its third generation. The updated Sport means we will also get an updated SVR and a new batch of spy shots caught the performance model testing near the Nurburgring race track. The high-performance SUV continues to conceal its design under camouflage and cladding, but the coverings can’t hide the SVR’s performance bits. Following a series of teasers and a partial reveal in a YouTube video, BMW has finally take off the covers of the new M3 Touring. The debuts marks an important first for the 3 Series line-up with this being the first time BMW has made the estate style available on the fully-blown M3. Starting with the looks, the M3 Touring isn't that different from the M3 sedan when viewed from the front. The oversized kidney grille, prominent vents and muscular bonnet are all shared with the standard M3 while along the sides the flared fenders too are in-line with the sedan. It's only after the B-pillar that the styling changes with new rear doors, longer and flatter roof, new rear quarter panels and an extended glasshouse. The rear bumper and taillights are also carried over from BMW's performance sedan while the vertical tailgate is in with BMW's standard 3 Series Touring. Germany's BMW said on Thursday that production has formally begun at a new plant in China with an investment of 15 billion yuan ($2.24 billion) as the carmaker accelerates electric vehicle (EV) production. The Lydia plant, BMW's third car assembly facility in China, located in the northeastern city of Shenyang, Liaoning province, will increase BMW's annual output in the world's biggest auto market to 830,000 vehicles from 700,000 in 2021, the company said. The plant is designed to be capable of producing battery-powered electric cars only according to market demand on its flexible manufacturing lines, BMW said. The first model that will roll off the Lydia plant's production lines is the i3, a pure electric mid-sized sports sedan, BMW said, increasing the range of its EV models for Chinese customers to 13 next year.
