Pratap Bose is responsible for designing many successful cars in the brand's portfolio. The company states that Pratap is currently serving his notice period. An internal memo was circulated earlier this week within the Tata Group states, "Pratap Bose has decided to leave for better opportunities. He will proceed on leave for his remainder of (his) tenure." Martin Uhlarik, Head of UK Design Centre, Tata Motors will be taking over duties from Pratap Bose in the company. Three-time MotoGP champion Jorge Lorenzo swapped two wheels for four when he tried out a Mercedes Formula 1 car at Silverstone in October. The Spaniard, thanks to his sponsor Monster Energy, was able to achieve his dream of sampling grand prix machinery when he tested Lewis Hamilton's title-winning Mercedes W05 at the British Grand Prix venue. After the conclusion of his MotoGP season, Lorenzo then appeared in Abu Dhabi to watch the F1 title finale as a guest of Mercedes . In a previous job, writing for a publication based in the UK, one of my favorite tasks was visiting racetracks of the past and comparing them then and now. A particular favorite was Pescara in Italy, still the longest course ever to grace the Formula 1 World Championship, at 16-plus miles. The Adriatic coast and the vineyard-strewn hillsides inland in this region together form one of the most gorgeous places on Earth. The photographer and I felt a real sense of accomplishment when, brandishing archive pics from the 1930s, ’40s and ’50s, we were able to figure out where the original photographers had stood, and then were able to replicate the shots in the 21 st century. Gratifyingly, much had remained the same. But as you can imagine, the delight in spotting the same milestone markers, the same trees with 60 years more growth and the faded painted curbing at the roadside, etc., was accompanied by a deep sense of poignancy.
