Billy Joe Shaver , one of the figureheads of the “outlaw country” movement that came out of Texas and flourished in the 1970s, is the subject of a forthcoming tribute album that sees some of the top names in country and Americana saluting the late legend, including Willie Nelson , Miranda Lambert, George Strait, Nathaniel Rateliff, Rodney Crowell and Margo Price. The project, “Live Forever: A Tribute to Billy Joe Shaver,” comes out on New West Nov. 11. The title track, a Nelson recording of “Live Forever” with Lucinda Williams on harmony vocals, premieres on Variety today. The Elk, the fly-fishing centerpiece of the region, was high and off-color, even though it was late July. The dry fly-fishing we'd anticipated would probably be off the table. But as we'd soon learn, greater Fernie has no shortage of first-rate trout streams, all set against the dramatic spires of the Canadian Rockies. If the Elk couldn't be our focus, we'd still have a good chance at success. The small town of Fernie rests near the southeastern corner of British Columbia, roughly 4 1/2 hours' drive northeast of Spokane, Wash. (or 11 hours east of Vancouver, B.C.). Its most unusual gimmick was represented by the pair of Sidesticks, with one mounted on the driver's door and the other in the center console. You can see this gentleman using them to maneuver the car. The fully functional concept was filmed arriving at the London Concours with one feature you'll find on only a handful of production cars today. Much like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Honda E, Lexus ES, and a few others, it did away with traditional side mirrors by adopting cameras. Its latest build is a tuned Mercedes-AMG G63 with a visual makeover that includes more than added aero parts. Mansory adds a new front bumper, fender trim, a rear apron, a roof spoiler, and more finished in forged carbon. However, it’s hard not to address the paint scheme that starts as turquoise at the front and fades to black. The tuner calls the paint finish “Algorithmic Fade.” It uses a black-painted symbol that becomes increasingly dense in size, spacing, and quantity, moving toward the rear, creating a faded color look. Twenty-four-inch forged painted rims sit at the corners.
