After tasting big success with the Compass, American SUV specialist Jeep is all set to expand its product range in the Indian market. While a sub-4 meter compact Jeep SUV to challenge the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and the Ford EcoSport is already in the works, the automaker is also putting together a three row SUV that will sit above the Compass in terms of price and positioning. Considering that the Compass’ top-end variants already push the Rs. 20 lakh mark, it’s very likely that the larger, longer SUV planned for India and other markets, will be a Toyota Fortuner challenger. Expect the new SUV to nudge the 25 lakh rupees mark in India. Last year, Jeep launched the Grand Commander SUV in China. The Grand Commander is a 7 seat, 3 row SUV, and while this SUV is specific to the Chinese market, something similar to this coud be launched in India as well. The new, 7 seat SUV from Jeep for the Indian market is expected to arrive sometime in 2022, when the current … [Read more...] about Jeep to launch 7 seat SUV in India; Toyota Fortuner challenger?
When Lexus planned a longer, three-row version of its RX 350, it didn’t have to look far for inspiration. It was hiding in plain sight in the foundation of the well-done Toyota Highlander. The RX was the inspiration (and benchmark) that started the segment for luxury midsize car-based SUV crossovers. Today, every maker has one and it is now the preferred body style over sedans. The RX has been a smash success among those in the cast of competitors, which include the Acura MDX, Audi Q7, BMW X5, Cadillac XT5, Infiniti QX60, Lincoln Nautilus (née MKX) and Jaguar F-Pace.And now there is the longer family-class RX with three rows for six to seven passengers. The body is just 4.3 inches longer than the standard RX, but it is enough for a kid-class third row.The RX-L is sold in gasoline V-6 and gasoline-electric hybrid V-6 models in front or all-wheel drive. Notable upgrades over the Highlander include standard leather upholstery, power folding third-row seats and three-zone climate … [Read more...] about 2018 Lexus RX 350L: The 3-row prescription for family travel
Unless you’ve been living under a rock these past few years or you simply don’t follow the automotive industry, odds are you’re aware of how SUVs have been taking over our streets. We’re long past the point where we can justify this uptrend with sensible and practical arguments. Nobody really needs a Mazda CX-3 instead of, let’s say, a larger and actually more affordable Mazda3 hatch, and there’s certainly no reason why someone’s Jaguar F-PACE should be putting down 550 PS and hit 60 mph in nearly 4 seconds flat. Yet, the SUV fever is here to stay and small crossovers, as well as really fast ones, are all part of the group. With that in mind, here’s a rundown of all the new SUVs presented during this year’s New York Auto Show, be it in production, near-production or concept form. The following list is in no particular order. # 2019 Subaru Forester The all-new, fifth-generation Forester looks to build on everything the previous model … [Read more...] about The 2018 NY Auto Show Is A Complete SUV Fest
