2018 Audi R8 V10 Plus Coupe Competition PackageAudi has a new Competition version of its range-topping R8 V10 Plus supercar, and just 10 are earmarked for the United States. There isn't any extra power but there's more downforce and less weight, which should result in better track times. SEMA is just around the corner, and this year Ford has called on a number of tuning firms to dress up its SUV models, as well as its Mustang and pickup trucks. The highlight among the SUVs should be the new Edge ST, whose twin-turbo V-6 is just begging to be upgraded. Chevrolet will be introducing some new crate engines at SEMA, and one of them is the supercharged V-8 found in the latest Corvette ZR1. Code-named the LT5, this beast of an engine delivers 755 horsepower to start. You'll find these stories and more in today's car news, right here at Motor Authority. 2018 Audi R8 V10 Plus Coupe Competition arrives, limited to 10 cars 2019 Edge ST heads fleet of custom Ford SUVs bound for SEMA Chevy … [Read more...] about 2018 Audi R8 V10 Plus, 2019 Ford Edge ST, Corvette ZR1 crate engine: Today’s Car News
Audi r8 v10 plus review
You know you’re swimming in dangerous waters trying to rationalise a sub-genre in which to fit the Audi R8 RWS and the McLaren 540C when valid arguments can rage (at CarAdvice HQ, at least) about what broader car segment each sits in. Are these super sports cars? Or merely sports cars? Do they qualify as supercars, which has been argued that, these days, sits a tier beneath properly ludicrous hypercars? Further, does some common purpose of being between them transcend mere pigeonholes? And do labels really matter? Labels matter to McLaren, the company literally pegging its entry-level 540C as its lowest-rung super sports car (Sport Series), seated below its proper supercar (Super Series) and hypercar (Ultimate Series) vehicles in a neat three-tier model portfolio. Audi, for its part, can afford to be a little looser with the R8 range it specifically calls “supercar”, because the only way from Ingolstadt’s heap king is down elsewhere in the marque’s fold to … [Read more...] about 2018 Audi R8 V10 RWS v McLaren 540C comparison

Can this SUV really have it all? The version of the Q5 with the four-cylinder diesel engine has found plenty of buyers given that it’s a very good engine. But then there’s the V6 diesel. While the 282bhp is delightful in the V6 there’s another rather outstanding figure. Torque, at 457lb ft, is more than you’d find in the Audi R8 V10 Plus. And that’s in a family-friendly, high-riding SUV. The 2.0 TDI is smooth and refined by diesel standards, and the 3.0 TDI takes it that bit further. True, at start-up there’s still a bit of a vibey grumble but as soon as you’re moving it smooths right out and stays as quiet as the wind and road noise, which is minimal. Audi Q5 3.0 TDI Price: £46,890 You’ll notice that the 0-62mph time is a claimed 5.8 seconds, which might seem a bit far-fetched in this big SUV but actually it feels about right. The Q5 takes off like a missile, and makes you wonder why you’d want the SQ5 performance model. … [Read more...] about Audi Q5 3.0 TDI review: Is bigger better?
If you’ve ever wondered whether a four-seat family hatchback could possibly take on a genuine two-seat supercar, the answer is yes. It’s coming to something when a hatchback is ranked in performance terms alongside a bona-fide supercar, but that’s exactly what we’ve got here in this literally incredible straight-line shootout. The E-Hybrid has a scarcely believable 671bhp, making it not only the most powerful and fastest Panamera ever, but also one of the most powerful Porsches ever. It’ll do a crazy 194mph. Thing is, it’s no supermodel in terms of weight. It tips the scales at over 2.3 tonnes. Here we’ve pitted it against the 138bhp less powerful, 229lb ft less torqueful but also 700kg lighter V10-powered Audi R8. The Audi is even faster than the Porsche with a 198mph top speed, and has four-wheel drive – but which one will win in a straight drag race?
