Max Verstappen has not held back when giving his opinion on the virtual Le Mans race after being disconnected midway through his stint. While some Formula 1 drivers are preparing for the new season with winter weather training, Verstappen has been behind the wheel competing in the virtual 24 Hours of Le Mans race. But his race, which he competed in as part of his esports team Team Redline, came to an early end when he was disconnected from the server. It was not the only incident of a race blighted by technical problems including the two servers being used for the event being the target of a security breach. Immediately after his disconnection, the Dutchman launched a tirade against the organisers of the race describing it as a “clown show.” The red mist had not fully faded when Verstappen later took to Discord to again complain at the organisers and asked how can they control a race when they cannot even control their own “s**t servers.” “I’m going to write this once, … [Read more...] about Max Verstappen doubles down on virtual Le Mans criticism: ‘You can’t even control your own s**t server’

The Max Verstappen prediction that could spell good news for Red Bull
Max Verstappen says any team that was “in trouble” last season with the new technical regulations will need time to recover, they may even have to “start all over again”. Last season Formula 1 swapped its downforce philosophy, moving away from over-car air flow to ground effect aerodynamics where vortexes in the car’s floor increase the speed of the air flow which increases downforce. Some teams got it wrong, others did not. Red Bull most definitely got it right, guided by the man who is said to be able to “see air”, Adrian Newey. The RB18 was the pick of the field, winning 17 of the 22 races with Verstappen claiming a second successive World title. Such was Red Bull’s form, the Milton Keynes squad is the favourite to do it again this season even though they are facing a reduction in their wind tunnel time as punishment for breaching the 2021 budget cap. But what came as a surprise to many was that Mercedes, taking to the 2022 grid as the eight-time reigning Constructors’ … [Read more...] about The Max Verstappen prediction that could spell good news for Red Bull
Lance Stroll: Aston Martin now a different beast compared to Racing Point days
Needing to react when their porpoising AMR22 broke floors, Lance Stroll has applauded Aston Martin’s ability to “dig ourselves out of the hole.” Aston Martin failed to score a single point in the first three races of the 2022 championship, Stroll revealing they had to raise the car’s ride-height, a decision that cost them performance, as they kept breaking the floors. “The lower you run these cars the better they are downforce, but then there’s this porpoising,” Stroll told the media including PlanetF1.com . “Generally, we’ve been limited with the floor just breaking so we have to watch how much we porpoise for those reasons.” Six races into the season they already had a solution in place, debuting a revised AMR22 that would go onto record 12 points-scoring results. Aston Martin finished the championship in seventh place, outscoring the bottom five teams in the second half of the season. “I think the team has evolved a lot,” Stroll told Motorsport.com . “At the … [Read more...] about Lance Stroll: Aston Martin now a different beast compared to Racing Point days
rFactor 2 release statement after Max Verstappen and others affected by Virtual Le Mans disconnections
The company behind the game that hosted the infamous 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans race has apologised to fans after the race saw multiple disconnects including Max Verstappen. The Dutchman was racing as part of his Team Redline outfit but disconnected, causing him to quit and launch a verbal tirade at the organisers. “They call it amazingly bad luck…well this is just incompetence,” Verstappen said on the live stream. “They can’t even control their own game. This the third time already that has happened to me now, being kicked off the game while doing this race. “This is also the last time ever because what’s the point? You prepare for five months to try and win this Championship, you are leading the Championship, you try to win this race which you have prepared for for two months and they handle it like this. “Honestly, it is a joke. You cannot even call it an event. It’s a clown show.” He later doubled down on his criticism, saying the organisers “can’t control your own s**t … [Read more...] about rFactor 2 release statement after Max Verstappen and others affected by Virtual Le Mans disconnections
Max Verstappen doesn’t want Daniel Ricciardo to do his simulator work for him
Max Verstappen may be reunited with former team-mate Daniel Ricciardo but does not want to rely on the Australian’s sim work. One of the sport’s best pairings has been reunited for 2023, even if Ricciardo is in a third driver role, but there remains speculation as to what that will entail for the Australian. Red Bull have hinted he will be used in promotional events, similar to the role David Coulthard has played in recent years, but that he will also help the team’s F1 preparations with work in the simulator. Christian Horner has also said that Ricciardo will be available as reserve driver for a few races in the 2023 calendar. But one driver who would rather do the sim work himself is two-time World Champion Verstappen, who said he would always rather do his own times in the simulator than rely on the results of the test driver. “I think our simulator is one of the best in the industry,” he said as reported by Speedweek.com. “We feed in data from the vehicle that we … [Read more...] about Max Verstappen doesn’t want Daniel Ricciardo to do his simulator work for him
Max Verstappen: Nyck de Vries can give AlphaTauri ‘exactly what they need’
Max Verstappen believes compatriot Nyck de Vries can be “exactly what AlphaTauri needs” in 2023, following the departure of Pierre Gasly. De Vries has made just the one start in Formula 1, a sterling points-scoring weekend for Williams at Monza last year in place of the unwell Alex Albon, but Verstappen his wide experience in other forms of motorsport will help him acclimatise at Red Bull’s sister team for his first full season. That P9 finish in Italy prompted AlphaTauri to swoop for his services after Gasly was allowed to take Fernando Alonso’s vacated seat at Alpine, with the Dutchman set to turn 28 in early February. So while he is not Formula 1’s youngest ever rookie, Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko said back in October that he feels De Vries should step into Gasly’s role as team leader at AlphaTauri next season, alongside Yuki Tsunoda. Verstappen gets Marko’s reasoning behind that view, but he added that his talent and feel for a car will be crucial in helping … [Read more...] about Max Verstappen: Nyck de Vries can give AlphaTauri ‘exactly what they need’
Swapping Fernando Alonso for Sebastian Vettel changed Aston Martin ‘dynamics’
Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack is confident Fernando Alonso will help take the team “even further”, after Sebastian Vettel already brought them to a “different level”. Alonso signed for the Silverstone-based team in the days after Vettel announced his retirement from Formula 1, the Spaniard moving from Alpine on a multi-year deal at a time when Aston Martin are looking to make big strides in terms of competitiveness. The first of three buildings at the team’s new factory is pencilled for completion by May, with staff set to move across to their new offices mid-season as they prepare for a significant upgrade in their facilities, following several years of investment by team owner Lawrence Stroll. After two consecutive P7 finishes in the Constructors’ standings, Aston Martin will be pushing for a jump in speed relative to their rivals in 2023, though their team boss admitted there is a difference in approach between the two multiple World Champions in how they go about … [Read more...] about Swapping Fernando Alonso for Sebastian Vettel changed Aston Martin ‘dynamics’
Max Verstappen Drives The Honda HR-V In The Middle Of A Field In New Ad
Honda withdrew from Formula 1 at the end of the 2021 season, but it didn't completely leave the most coveted motorsport competition. In August 2022, it extended its support deal with Red Bull Powertrains and expressed its interest in the new regulations set to come into effect in 2026. From the 2022 Japanese Grand Prix onward, the Honda logo returned on Red Bull and AlphaTauri cars. In other words, Honda and RB still form a partnership. With that in mind, it's no wonder Max Verstappen is starring in yet another ad for Honda. Last year, we saw him behind the wheel of the cutesy E electric car and the Civic Type R hot hatch. The latest commercial features the HR-V sold in Europe, Japan, and other markets. We'll remind you the North American version is bigger and has a different design while also being available in other regions where it's known as the ZR-V. 2022 Honda HR-V global version 26 Photos … [Read more...] about Max Verstappen Drives The Honda HR-V In The Middle Of A Field In New Ad
F1 driver contracts: What is the current contract status of every driver on the 2023 grid?
How long are Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton set to drive for Red Bull and Mercedes? Here’s the length of all the current F1 driver contracts. Every driver on the F1 grid has signed a contract with their current team to race with them in 2023. These contracts are usually watertight, with only mutual cooperation (such as in Daniel Ricciardo’s split with McLaren at the end of 2022) able to break up these deals. While the teams aim to lock down superstar talents such as Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc on long-term deals, the key for these drivers is to try to find a sweet spot of longevity to coincide with a period of competitiveness from their team. For less-established drivers, they may only sign short-term one-year deals and have to continuously impress in order to secure another year in the sport. Let’s look through the current grid and check out the confirmed length of each of the F1 driver contracts. Max Verstappen – Contracted until end of 2028 The … [Read more...] about F1 driver contracts: What is the current contract status of every driver on the 2023 grid?
