Register for our free newsletterAston Martin subsidiary brand Lagonda has confirmed it will put a zero-emission SUV into production, with the car to be unveiled in 2021. Little information about the vehicle has been revealed, but the British firm has said it will use an advanced battery drivetrain to make it the first emission-free luxury SUV. As for its looks, it’s expected to echo the Lagonda Vision Concept unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March, meaning a sleek and long design. If that car’s drivetrain is an indication too, expect a production version to boast 400 miles of range between charges. Lagonda was founded in 1906 and acquired by Aston Martin in 1947. The firm is known for its ultra-luxury vehicles, and the nameplate was last used in 2015 on the extremely limited Taraf saloon. Just 200 examples were made, with prices starting at £685,000. Andy Palmer, Aston Martin’s chief executive, said: “In reviving one of the most iconic names in motoring … [Read more...] about Lagonda zero-emission SUV confirmed for production

But it won’t come cheap – one will cost £696,000 (RM4.46 million) in the UK, according to Autocar. Now where does that put it in comparison with the limos in the market. Well, an extended-wheelbase Rolls-Royce Phantom costs £373,824 while the most luxurious Bentley, the Mulsanne, is priced at £229,360. So one can have a Phantom and a Mulsanne plus a grand tour around the world for less money than a Taraf! Sitting on Aston Martin’s VH architecture, the Lagonda Taraf is powered by a 550 hp 6.0 litre V12 engine paired to a six-speed ZF gearbox.
