These two Jeeps are beach-body ready. Although some parts of the country are still covered in snow and others battling bitter cold, Spring Break is right around the corner. That's why earlier this week, Jeep reintroduced its tropical Islander moniker – first used in 1988 – for special versions of the Renegade and Wrangler . The two Jeeps wear custom paint, sport special features, and are ready to hit the beach, weather permitting. The Wrangler uses the Sport S trim as its base (both two- and four-door models) and comes with Islander-specific exterior cues like 17-inch Rubicon wheels, a "Tiki Bob" hood decal, and a white three-piece hardtop roof. Plus buyers get the choice of ten paint options, like the Chief Blue pictured here, or other fun shades like Snazzberry, Firecracker Red, and Hellayella. Inside, the Wrangler Islander sports cloth black seats with a Ceramic White mid-bolster and an embroidered Islander logo with Surf Blue accent stitching. Faye Ho: British Superbikes’ only female team owner on women in racing
This season Bennetts British Superbikes, the strongest domestic championship in bike racing, will have a female team owner, Faye Ho. She’s not the first woman to do this, Jenny Tinmouth ran a BSB team in 2011. But Ho has ambitions to build something substantial and lasting. Having survived breast cancer and being orphaned at the age of six and after a successful business career in her own right she is now taking on her biggest sporting challenge. Ho has been sponsoring riders for over 10 years, winning the Macau Bike GP with Stuart Easton in 2010 and more recently backing Peter Hickman and Michael Rutter. At the end of last year, she took over the Smiths BSB team and rebranded it Faye Ho Racing. Hickman will ride one of her BMWs and Xavi Fores the other. Where she blazes a trail, she hopes more women will follow. IndyCar racing is fast. We love the diversity; we race on ovals and super speedways as well as short ovals and we race on permanent road courses and we race on temporary street circuits. And I think that diversity is really interesting and a great draw for our fans. Little teams can compete with big teams. During a race it's wheel to wheel, there's passing and I just … [Read more...] about IndyCar CEO Mark Miles: Future to see third constructor, digital offering
VW ID Buzz Design Possibly Previewed In Commercial Vehicle Rendering
It sports a spot for the self-driving sensors on the roof. Volkswagen has teased the return of the Microbus for years, finally confirming in 2017 that it'd return in the form of the ID Buzz for the 2022 model year . However, as its arrival approaches, we've yet to see much of the production version, though our spy photographers have caught one test mule . The Buzz will be all-electric and feature an autonomous driving system, though that's being developed by VW's Commercial Vehicles department. VW Commercial Vehicles announced today that it's moving ahead with its autonomous driving R&D, releasing a rendering of an ID Buzz with a strange helmet on top and odd side mirrors. Both likely house the handful of sensors needed to operate the autonomous driving system, which will use the self-driving system developed by Argo AI. VW and Ford, both of which have agreed to collaborate on future models, have also invested in the autonomous driving company.
