VW Beetle camper is part car, part log cabin
Motorhomes provide travellers with a house on the road. But what if you have more of a rustic personal aesthetic? Check out this Volkswagen Beetle "Holzhaus," which roughly translates to log cabin or chalet. The weird rig is currently for sale in Italy. This log cabin on wheels started as a 1970 VW Beetle 1302 (this model was the Super Beetle in the United States). A group of Alpine craftsmen added the wood body on top of the original chassis in 1995. They even carved the lumber by hand for the interior and exterior, according to the listing. Pirelli deny WRC pull-out linked to F1 future as it awaits FIA’s decision
In the round-up: Formula 1’s official tyre supplier Pirelli says its decision not to continue supplying rubber to the World Rally Championship is not linked to its future in grand prix racing. In brief Pirelli WRC exit not linked to F1 future The FIA is poised to decide which manufacturer has been selected as F1’s tyre supplier for the 2025 to 2027 seasons. Pirelli is understood to have submitted an application as well as former F1 tyre supplier Bridgestone. Earlier this month Pirelli confirmed it would not seek to extend its deal to supply tyres to the World Rally Championship. But its head of motor sport Mario Isola said this decision is not linked to it’s future participation in F1. “We have a team dedicated to WRC and we believe that in this period we got what we wanted in terms of being a part of the sport,” said Isola. “The team that is looking after WRC, or rallying in general, is not the same team that we have for Formula 1.” Pirelli is in its 13th consecutive year … [Read more...] about Pirelli deny WRC pull-out linked to F1 future as it awaits FIA’s decision
Carlos Sainz’s father weighs in on Fernando Alonso F1 retirement debate
The legendary father of Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz believes Fernando Alonso has earned the right to decide when he retires from F1. Despite turning 42 in July, Alonso has enjoyed his most competitive season in years in 2023 by claiming seven podium finishes with the Aston Martin team. However, Sainz was the one flying the flag for Spain at last weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix where the Ferrari star secured his second F1 victory with arguably the greatest drive of his career to date. Fernando Alonso praised by Carlos Sainz’s father Alonso, who became Spain’s first F1 World Champion in 2005, acted as something of a mentor to Sainz in his early career, though it has been claimed in 2023 that the relationship between them has suffered of late . Sainz’s father, Carlos Sainz Sr, is Spain’s original motorsport icon having won two World Rally Championships in the early 1990s. And having won the challenging Dakar Rally event as recently as 2020, the 61-year-old is in awe of … [Read more...] about Carlos Sainz’s father weighs in on Fernando Alonso F1 retirement debate

Advert | Become a Supporter & go ad-free The move follows recent criticism of Ben Sulayem’s management of the governing body’s most successful series. F1 wrote to Ben Sulayem last month to strongly object to comments he made on social media regarding F1’s financial value . Soon afterwards the FIA was forced to respond to sexist comments Ben Sulayem had made 20 years before he became president, after they resurfaced in a newspaper report . An FIA spokesperson told RaceFans the transfer of operational responsibilities from Ben Sulayem to Tombazis was a planned development following its announcement last month that it had completed the introduction of its new management structure for F1 .
