As a reminder this 8C Coupe is expected to pack one serious punch. It will adopt a mid-engined layout with a biturbo conventional engine. There is also going to be an electrified front axle, thus turning the resurrected 8C into a hybrid with a combined output of more than 700 horsepower. That should be enough grunt to sprint to 62 mph (100 kn/h) in less than … [Read more...] about Could The 700 HP Alfa Romeo 8C Coupe Look Like This?

Tweet TweetEven if the Italian based carmaker has been and still is very successful with the new Alfa Romeo Giulia in all its versions, it seems that it will receive a new engine, in the shape of a 2.0-liter TBi with 257 kW. The news surfaced after Dutch tuning Squadra was browsing Fiat Chrysler`s website and accidentally found out the table below with the new components for the Giulia`s braking system. Once discovered that, the tuning company has declared on its Facebook page: “We are not really intended to spread new facts [about the Alfa Romeo Giulia]. But this is something we found remarkable. Surfing on the parts site of the Alfa Giulia, we stumbled upon brake discs for the 280PS model, but also for a Giulia 2.0 TBi with 350PS (257kW).” Concerning the tuning`s discovery, Alfa Romeo has not yet commented on that matter, but if this proves to be true, the new engine is going to be the most powerful ever seen underneath the Giulia. So far, the most powerful engine from … [Read more...] about Alfa Romeo Giulia Lineup Reportedly Adding 2.0TBi Engine
The Alfa Romeo Giulia QV possesses the best V6 engine in the business, combined with razor-sharp dynamics and amazing ride quality – but it's let down by a mediocre interior. Italy has never made a perfect car. They can be beautiful, they can be fast, they can even prove to be reliable, but they never tick all the boxes. The Italians have also never produced a car – in recent times at least – that we can wholeheartedly recommend as the best in its class. That hasn’t changed with the Alfa Romeo Giulia QV. However, what makes it imperfect also makes it an excellent candidate for those that dread the idea of adding just another BMW M or Mercedes-AMG to the road. From the outside, Alfa’s answer to the BMW M3 or Mercedes-AMG C63 S sedan gives all the right cues to its intent. It sits on gorgeous 19-inch alloys that scream Italian, with a family front design that, while attractive, we feel is completely unmatched to its absolutely stunning rear end that houses a … [Read more...] about 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia QV review
Recent talk of a 641 hp, hybrid Alfa Romeo Giulia Coupe is enough to get anyone excited. After taking a look at these renderings, you may even be convinced to head to a local Alfa dealer and place an order for the car. Created by All Car News, these renderings depict a hardcore Giulia that is wider, lower, and much more menacing than its four-door sibling. Up front, the Giulia Coupe can be differentiated from the sedan thanks to new LED headlights slightly larger than the units currently in use. Obviously, the rear doors have also been removed and instead sits a pair of elongated front doors. At the rear, the Italian sports car looks very similar to the sedan but is also slightly wider and looks even more appealing. According to reports out of the UK, the Giulia Coupe in question will pair the marque’s 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 with an energy recovery system (ERS) to deliver a combined 641 hp. Such a figure is just 20 hp fewer than the Ferrari 488 GTB and would give the Alfa a … [Read more...] about Alfa Romeo Giulia Rendered As 641 HP Coupe Bruiser
Alfa Romeo is working on a new F1-inspired powertrain for the upcoming Giulia coupe, according to reports out of the UK. If a report published in Autocar is to be believed, there will be two new hybrid setups coming in the two-door Giulia: one based on the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder Veloce engine, and one based on the fire-breathing 2.9-litre Quadrofoglio V6. The report suggests the system will be based on a HY-KERS setup developed by Ferrari and Magneti Marelli, designed to provide torque fill while the turbo spools up from low revs. Although it’s aimed at delivering better performance, the side-benefits of electrification are likely to include lower emissions and better fuel efficiency in town. In lesser Veloce trim, the energy-recovery system (ERS) is expected to add an extra 50kW to the mix, bumping total power to around 255kW. When applied to the V6 in the Quadrifoglio, the system could deliver a massive 100kW boost. That would make the cloverleaf coupe a 475kW … [Read more...] about Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint coming with 480kW – report

Alfa Romeo isn’t set to see profit this year despite an upturn in fortunes, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles chief executive officer Sergio Marchionne said during a fourth-quarter earnings call for the company, according to Automotive News Europe. “The losses are shrinking, but we need more volumes,” Marchionne said, stating that the rebuilding of the Italian marque is still a work in progress. The marque’s plan for revival comprised of the roll-out of eight models originally by 2018, but that was deemed unfeasible at the end of 2015 and has since been revised to mid-2020. The 400,000-unit sales target has also been dropped. No revised target has been released since, and Marchionne also did not reveal a timeframe for a return to profitability. A return to profit this year was indeed expected by Marchionne and chief financial officer Richard Palmer, following the launches of the Giulia and the marque’s first SUV, the Stelvio. The brand did record an increase in … [Read more...] about Alfa Romeo 2018 forecast: better, but won’t make profit
Citing an “absolutely trustworthy and legit source,” an aftermarket tuner specialising in upgrading Alfa Romeo’s has learned Fiat Chrysler Automotive, FCA, has approved the production of a new Alfa Romeo sports car. The ‘6C’ could debut as early as this year or, more likely, in 2019 at a major auto show. Production is planned for 2020. Pogea Racing, the tuner behind the news break, says the person they spoke to is “very deep into the decisions of the management of Alfa Romeo and all he said in the past became reality.” Certainly sounds legit, but we’ll wait and see. Alfa Romeo has embarked on a full line-up refresh, starting with the Giulia and Stelvio, and a large SUV is already confirmed to be in the works. At the recent Detroit Motor Show outgoing FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne said that it “would be economically suicidal for FCA” not to invest into Alfa Romeo (and Maserati), adding “we’re in nursery … [Read more...] about Alfa Romeo 6C coming?
