We're in television limbo. The cable model is fading away but streaming has become just as crowded, expensive and frustrating. Hit television shows are scattered across services, and watching even a handful of the best requires more than one subscription. There's no quick fix for the streaming blues, but there are some tips on new things you can try. First, let's dig into what the rules are for sharing and who is cracking down. 1) Share accounts, as much as you're comfortable Yes, you are able to share logins for your streaming accounts, but the exact rules vary from company to company. Penalties for breaking these rules are typically murky and mild. There's little evidence any companies have taken legal action for casual sharing, but it's more serious for people stealing accounts or sharing with many people for profit. If you're worried, start by checking the terms of service for each company to see if they specify who you can or cannot share with (we break some down below). … [Read more...] about How to juggle multiple TV streaming services without missing a show

Houston has increased rain chances this week from tropical disturbance in Gulf
Houston is under the threat of increased rain chances Wednesday through Saturday, with several inches of rain and the potential for minor street flooding in the latest forecast from the National Weather Service (NWS) in League City. The latest predictions aren't ironclad, however. Meteorologists in Houston and Miami are closely watching a tropical disturbance brewing along the southern Texas Gulf Coast, which as of Wednesday morning has a 40 percent chance of developing into an organized system over the next few days. But the trajectory and intensity of the potential system is still uncertain, meaning Houston could either see more or less rainfall than predicted. "The northern edge of the rain associated with this developing system will reach into our region [Wednesday] afternoon, but how far northwards will heavily depend on the [location] of the low pressure system," NWS meteorologist Jimmy Fowler wrote in a detailed weather briefing Wednesday morning . "Weak, unorganized … [Read more...] about Houston has increased rain chances this week from tropical disturbance in Gulf
Wahome makes history as first female WRC3 winner at Safari Rally
Listen to this article The 26-year-old Kenyan managed to win the WRC’s third tier class by 25 minutes and 27s, and finished the event 16th overall, one place behind M-Sport Rally1 driver Gus Greensmith. The event marked exactly a year since the motocross convert took up rallying at the Safari Rally. Wahome’s victory was made even more impressive given the event was her first outing in the M-Sport-built Ford Fiesta Rally3 car, having previously piloted a Subaru Impreza N12 in the African Rally Championship. Wahome ended Friday sitting in second position behind countryman and Junior WRC regular McRae Kimathi, but her hopes of a podium were thrown into doubt by am ECU issue. It meant the Wahome had to rejoin the rally under Super Rally rules but was able to drive cleanly through a brutal event, that saw all WRC3 competitors forced to retire at least once, to rise to the lead on Saturday. An error free run through Sunday’s five stages sealed the victory from … [Read more...] about Wahome makes history as first female WRC3 winner at Safari Rally
Justices say veteran who lost job as Texas trooper can sue state
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed a former state trooper to sue Texas over his claim that he was forced out of his job when he returned from Army service in Iraq. The justices ruled for Army veteran Le Roy Torres under a federal law that was enacted in 1994 in the wake of the Persian Gulf war to strengthen job protections for returning service members. By a 5-4 vote, the high court rejected Texas' claim that it is shielded from such lawsuits. “Text, history, and precedent show that the States, in coming together to form a Union, agreed to sacrifice their sovereign immunity for the good of the common defense,” Justice Stephen Breyer wrote for the court. Justice Clarence Thomas, joined by three other conservative justices, dissented, arguing that “when the States ratified the Constitution, they did not implicitly consent to private damages actions filed in their own courts—whether authorized by Congress’ war powers or any other Article I power.” Article I … [Read more...] about Justices say veteran who lost job as Texas trooper can sue state

Netflix’s plan to fix its subscription crisis starts in Asia
Netflix is looking to Asia after its shock first-quarter slowdown, seeking to both maintain growth in the one region where it's still adding subscribers and replicate its success there in other parts of the world. Despite plans to curb overall spending, investment in Asia will keep growing, including financing for the production of local films and series, Tony Zameczkowski, vice president of business development for Asia Pacific, said in an interview. While Netflix will continue to offer low-price, mobile-only membership across Asia, it's also seeking more partnerships with wireless operators and digital payment companies to reach more potential customers in a region where credit card use is less common, he said. The company's Asia strategy is informing moves in other emerging markets, where the platform must also grow to balance out saturation in North America and Europe. "Asia is a great proxy for other markets in the world," said Zameczkowski. "There are similarities between … [Read more...] about Netflix’s plan to fix its subscription crisis starts in Asia
West Texas farmers and ranchers fear the worst as drought, heat near 2011 records
RALLS — Lloyd Arthur can run his hand through the soil at his cotton farm and know what kind of year he’s going to have. His dry, cracked field is making him think this could be a repeat of one of the state’s worst years. “We can’t outfox what Mother Nature sends us,” said Arthur, whose farm is about 30 miles outside of Lubbock. “2022 has been one for the record books. We’ve always compared years to 2011, as far as droughts and whatnot, but 2022 is worse. We don’t have any underground moisture.” According to the U.S. Drought Monitor , more than 80% of Texas has been facing drought conditions most of the year, and some areas for much longer. Prolonged drought can lead to crop loss, heat stress and limited feed availability for livestock, as well as increased risk of wildfires.key The drought has been affecting West Texas since last August. There has been some rainfall in recent weeks, but not enough. After receiving about three inches of rain in May, Ralls has seen less than an … [Read more...] about West Texas farmers and ranchers fear the worst as drought, heat near 2011 records
Peugeot “starting from scratch” in WEC as Monza debut nears
Listen to this article Peugeot will compete in the remaining three rounds of the 2022 WEC season in the top-tier Hypercar division, starting with the Six Hours of Monza on July 8-10, marking a return to the top echelon of sportscar racing for the first time in over a decade. Not only has the French manufacturer built two brand new hybrid cars built to LMH rules, christened the 9X8, it is also handling the operational side of the team, with the entire project taking place in-house. Peugeot did initially want to use the services of an established team and announced a tie-up with multiple LMP1-winning squad Rebellion Racing for its Hypercar programme in 2019, but the partnership was called off soon after following the Swiss company’s decision to exit motorsport. Peugeot’s technical director Olivier Jansonnie explained that to tackle the WEC the French manufacturer has had to build an entirely new team, partly made up of staff from other departments within the Stellantis … [Read more...] about Peugeot “starting from scratch” in WEC as Monza debut nears
Peru Truckers, Farmers To Strike Over Fuel And Fertilizer Costs
Peru's truckers and some farm groups will go on strike on Monday after failing to reach agreements with the government seeking measures to reduce the impact of steep global price rises of fuel and fertilizer, sector leaders said on Sunday. Union leaders met on Friday and Saturday with government representatives, with demands including considering freight transport a "public service" that would reduce costs and curb competition from truckers from neighbor countries. "We are firm in plans to strike with all our bases nationwide," the leader of the heavy load haulage and drivers union Marlon Milla told radio station RPP. The union has 400,000 cargo transport units in 14 of the 25 regions of the country. High global fuel prices linked to Russia's invasion of Ukraine have stoked unrest in Peru, the world's No. 2 copper producer, while shortages of fertilizer have raised fears over food supply with the government struggling to secure shipments. The government of leftist President … [Read more...] about Peru Truckers, Farmers To Strike Over Fuel And Fertilizer Costs
