The Holden Trailblazer sometimes falls off the radar in a discussion about rough-and-ready $50K 4x4s. But it probably shouldn’t. You could mount a solid case that Holden’s Trailblazer is one of the market’s sales under-achievers, battling to match fellow light ute-based wagons the Isuzu MU-X, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Ford Everest and Toyota Fortuner.Indeed, Isuzu, a much smaller company in the grand scheme than Holden’s parent GM, is selling three-times more MU-Xs than what the Trailblazer is currently managing, despite the pair sharing a number of key components. Is it a lack of market awareness? The wrong badge? Poor marketing? Who knows. What we can say is the Holden is certainly not without its positive attributes, if what you want is a body-on-frame 4x4 with seating for seven and a diesel engine made for towing…We’re revisiting it here not because there’s anything new, but simply because we haven’t touched one in a while and try … [Read more...] about 2018 Holden Trailblazer LTZ review
Jason is looking for what he calls a mid-life crisis car to supplement his Jeep Cherokee. The challenge is that it has to be something fun to drive for someone that only has use of their left arm. What car should he buy? (Welcome back to What Car Should You Buy? Where we give real people real advice about buying cars. Do you want us to help you find a car? Submit your story on our form.) Here is the scenario: I am having a mid-life crisis and I need advice. I have a $50,000 budget and one major catch: I lost my right arm in Iraq so I need a one hand friendly car. I have a daily driver, a Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, so this is a car for fun. I’ve owned Jeeps and sports cars and loved both, so anything from a 4x4 to a rear wheel drive monster is on the table. Having one hand does mean some modern technology is really nice to have, like push to start and back up sensors (try getting your body spun all the way with no right arm). Also, I’m 6'4" so no Fiats, please. I would … [Read more...] about I Lost My Right Arm In Iraq And I Want To Drive Something Cool For $50,000! What Car Should I Buy?
Officially revealed in February earlier this year, the 5-seat Nissan Terra was launched in China last month. Today, the 7-seat Nissan Terra made its world debut in the Philippines. Nissan has revealed the list of markets the Terra is headed to next. The Philippine-spec Nissan Terra measures 4,885 mm in length, 1,865 mm in width and 1,835 mm in height. Its wheelbase spans a length of 2,850 mm. The mid-size SUV offers 225 mm of ground clearance and has a 32.3-degree approach angle and a 26.6-degree departure angle. In China, the Nissan Terra is strictly a 5-seater and a petrol-only model. However, we had said other markets, including the Philippines, will likely get a 7-seat version and a diesel engine. That’s exactly what has happened. The Philippines gets the mid-size SUV with seating for 7 people and a diesel engine. The diesel engine in question is the YD25DDTi 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder unit that produces 190 PS at 3,600 rpm and 450 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. 6-speed … [Read more...] about 7-seat Nissan Terra officially unveiled in the Philippines, to go on sale in August
Do you hear that? "That, Mr Anderson, is the sound of inevitability." In the motoring matrix, inevitability sounds like a twin-turbocharged V8 engine, sitting in the front of an SUV, that's wearing a Lamborghini badge on its nose. Everybody wants a 4x4, so Lamborghini, original purveyor of the world's wildest mid-engined supercars, has given them one. Here, then, is the Urus, and here's a man talking about it. He's Maurizio Reggiani, Lamborghini's chief technical officer, who only 12 hours earlier was telling me that the day Lamborghini ceased to make a naturally aspirated engine is a day he would no longer be working at the company. "The trunk can fit two golf bags, easily," he's now announcing. I might be paraphrasing slightly: I was quite taken aback by it at the time. Reggiani is the company's lead engineer, the man at the core of everything Lamborghini currently does, which has, until now, been making some of the most outrageous cars in the world. Non-hybrid, non-turbo supercars … [Read more...] about Lamborghini Urus: Driven
