Motor1 France's illustrator has created a rendering of the next-gen Peugeot 208 with styling bits incorporated from the all-new Peugeot 508 GT. The website says this sketch provides for a sportier take of the small car, and that the real design will be a bit conservative.Expected to be revealed at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the next-gen Peugeot 208 will be underpinned by the CMP or Common Modular Platform, co-developed by PSA and Dongfeng Motor. The new platform is expected to give designers more space to work with on the interior while offering a 40 kg weight saving. It will also underpin the next generation 2019 Peugeot 2008 which is expected to debut at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show.On the powertrain front, the 2019 208 will feature new generation 1.5-liter HDi diesel engines, while the petrol would be 1.2-liter units. A step down from the N hot hatchback, i30 N Line models will compete with Ford’s Focus ST-Line and the Peugeot 308 GT-Line. While the full-blown N gets a 2.0-litre petrol engine with up to 271bhp, things are rather more sedate in the N Line. It comes exclusively with Hyundai’s 138bhp 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine, mated to either a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic gearbox. Thankfully for keen drivers, there have been a few changes elsewhere. N Line models receive tweaked suspension and brakes, while the engine has been tuned to offer a better throttle response. The Peugeot 308 GT is now sporting a modified body kit, meaning a more aggressive front bumper, aerodynamic side skirts, revised front grille, LED infused headlights, or gloss black mirror caps. More tweaks include a rear diffuser, the 18-inch Diamant rims in Pilot 3 tires, dual exhaust system, sequential turn signals, sport tuned up suspension for lower ride height and a few more. The 2014 European Car of the Year, Peugeot 308, was updated for the 2018MY with modest revisions, but how does it compare to its more established rivals? In short, not that bad, CarBuyer revealed after driving the GT Line version and finding out that it has good quality materials inside, plenty of storage space and a boot that’s bigger than that of the VW Golf and Ford Focus. Peugeot’s engineers have also balanced the comfort and handling of the car, but that doesn’t necessarily make it perfect. That’s because it’s not the best one to drive in the class, according to the reviewer; but on the other hand, the suspension absorbs most bumps in the road nicely. The Peugeot 3008 has finally been launched in Malaysia, a few days after local distributor Nasim put up a registration of interest page. As revealed earlier, the fully imported SUV is available in two flavours – Active THP and the range-topping Allure THP. Under the hood, both variants are powered by the same 1.6 litre THP 165 S&S petrol engine, which serves up 165 hp (167 PS) and 240 Nm of torque. The turbocharged powerplant is paired with an Aisin-sourced six-speed automatic transmission, and drive goes to the front wheels. Top speed here is quoted at 206 km/h, with a 0-100 km/h time of 8.9 seconds. The 2017 European Car of the Year is claimed to offer a fuel efficiency of seven litres per 100 km following the combined cycle.
