Design & Exterior We received the BMW X1 in a shade of Sunset Orange. At first glance, the car looked fantastic. Up front, it features BMW's signature LED headlights that look very nice thanks to the LED DRLs. The visibility is brilliant and the LEDs light up the roads very well. The fog lamps, which are also LED units, are placed a little lower in the bumper. The bumper has been redesigned and it now gets vents on the sides too. However, unlike other BMW models on sale today, the X1 20d does not … [Read more...] about BMW X1 S-Drive 20d Review (Road Test): Bigger & Better Than Its Predecessor!

Humble no more. Discontinued in 2007, the Toyota MR2 is still regarded as one of the brand’s greatest sports cars. Ever since then, the automaker has been going back and forth about engineering a successor to the MR2 with one executive even saying he’d like to see Toyota partnering with Porsche on a potential new lightweight sports car. Unfortunately, it seems that - at least in the short- to mid-term plans - Toyota has no intentions to bring back the fabled nameplate. A revival is “not a priority” for the company, which now has three sports cars in its global lineup - the Supra, the new GR 86, and the GR Yaris. Simply put, don’t hold your breath for a new MR2 because Toyota isn’t making one. It is a legend: ⠀ Toyota MR2 with 1,200 Honda bhp does 0 to 60 in 2.5 seconds ⠀ Modified Toyota MR2 fights stock McLaren 540C in mid-engine drag race And now… forget about everything we said above. Let’s move to an alternative reality, in which Toyota … [Read more...] about Toyota MR2 rendering resurrects fabled sports car
A quick look at the BMW electrification roadmap reveals new and upgraded models on the horizon BMW Group started sales of plug-in electric cars in 2013 with the BMW i3. The first models under the BMW i sub-brand were standalone, designed from the ground up. Over the next couple of years, the German manufacturer focused on introducing plug-in hybrid versions of its existing models. The upcoming next stage of the electrification will be the introduction of new all-electric cars, but again mostly derivatives of existing BMW models to keep costs under control. So far, BMW Group sold almost 400,000 plug-in electric cars and the goal for this year is to exceed 500,000. The roadmap envisions 25 new plug-in models to be introduced by 2025, including at least 12 all-electric. As you can see on the graphic below, four upcoming BEVs were already shown, while another eight are still covered (1 in 2022, 2 in 2023, 3 in 2024 and 2 in 2025). In the case of PHEVs, … [Read more...] about BMW electrification roadmap: 25 plug-ins by 2025
