The American manufacturer expressed satisfaction with the run on Thursday and Friday with Romain Dumas and Franck Mailleux driving the Pipo-engined 007 LMH FIA World Endurance Championship contender. Marque boss Jim Glickenhaus revealed that the focus on the first day was on calibrating the car's electronics before extended running began on day two. "On the first day we had to work out the software, which was complicated because with COVID neither the guys from Bosch nor Xtrac [respectively responsible for the car's electronics and gearbox] could travel and we had to establish remote data lines," he told Motorsport.com. "But on Friday we just kept lapping, lapping and lapping. Romain told me and he has been involved with bigger manufacturers than us who couldn't do four laps in two days." Glickenhaus believes that the team "learned a lot" over the course of the test. "We only did 20 laps on the first day, but we completed around about 100 on day two," he said. Corvette to contest WEC opener, Glickenhaus sits out
The latest-generation Corvette that came on stream in last year's IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship will be raced by Oliver Gavin and Antonio Garcia in the eight-hour WEC race in Portugal on April 4. The entry provides further confirmation of Chevrolet's intent to return to the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2021 after skipping last year's rescheduled edition of the French enduro as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Corvette Racing has made sporadic outings in the WEC in addition to its annual trip to Le Mans over the past two seasons. It contested the Shanghai round of the 2018/19 with a … [Read more...] about Corvette to contest WEC opener, Glickenhaus sits out
Tanak “pushing” Hyundai for improvements in Arctic Rally win
Tanak bounced back from his Monte Carlo Rally misdemeanours by taking a comprehensive victory around Rovaniemi. Despite easing off slightly in the closing stages, the Hyundai i20 Coupe driver finished with a 17.5s cushion over Toyota's Kalle Rovanpera. Team boss Andrea Adamo spoke publicly before the second round of the World Rally Championship about the need to win, with this leading to an under pressure Tanak to lean more heavily on his mechanics. "This victory is very important and allows us to take away good points for the championship," said Tanak, who moves up to fifth in the drivers' standings. "We came to Finland - the home country of one of our closest rivals - so the pressure was on for sure. "We knew it would be complicated to take on the fight but, in the end, we did a very good weekend. "The pre-event test was held in very different conditions, so we didn't really know what to expect. "I was pushing the engineers quite a lot, but their hard … [Read more...] about Tanak “pushing” Hyundai for improvements in Arctic Rally win
Hongqi H9 In-Depth Video Showcases China’s S-Class Rival
Let’s take a look. It’s no surprise that those who want to travel in a blanket of opulence and luxury are a bit spoiled for choice. With a market that’s often saturated with offerings from Mercedes-Benz, Rolls-Royce, and even BMW, most prospective buyers have likely never heard of Hongqi . As such, Wheelsboy recently covered the latest offering from the Chinese automaker, the H9. While the Hongqi brand has gone largely unnoticed until recently, keen readers will likely know about the L5 – previously covered by Jeremy Clarkson in an episode of The Grand Tour. Polarizing opinions aside, the vehicle struggled with quality control issues. Thankfully, the H9 appears to be largely improved in comparison to its L-series predecessor. Aside from being much less expensive, the interior is still very well appointed. While the mid-spec variant lacks facilities such as a refrigerator, infotainment screens, and massage seats, it still provides an excellent experience for rear … [Read more...] about Hongqi H9 In-Depth Video Showcases China’s S-Class Rival
Can 2.0L Supra Prove Its Worth Against 3.0L Supras In A Wet Drag Race?
You know which one wins this one but you'll watch this anyway. Usually, drag races are orchestrated to see which of the competing cars are the quickest in a quarter-mile, straight-line sprint. Aside from a test of acceleration, it's also a test of traction and power-to-weight ratio, as well as a bit of an assessment of the drivers' skills in launching and gear-shifting. But this weekend's drag race is a tad different. The four-cylinder Toyota Supra is out to prove that it's worthy of carrying the badge, and what better way to do that than to compete against the 3.0L Supra – both old and new. Gallery: 2021 Toyota Supra 2.0: First Drive 40 Photos The race, of course, was set up by Carwow , with Mat Watson piloting the discriminated four-banger Supra.
