Sometimes the smallest things have the hardest time fitting in. The 2018 Ford EcoSport is the latest to arrive at the subcompact crossover party, and it doesn’t stand out from established competitors like the Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3, and Subaru Crosstrek.Ford’s runt of the litter is at least a half foot shorter than the competition, with a shorter wheelbase but a taller height. The EcoSport’s small and tall aspect suit its original market in South America, but is not as cosmopolitan in subsequent rollouts in Europe and Asia for model year 2013.Had Ford brought it to North America then, when the subcompact crossover craze hatched with the Buick Encore, it might have established itself in shoppers’ minds. But Ford misjudged the market, same as it has with the tardy return of the Ranger midsize pickup.Like most runts, EcoSport is more appealing in person than on paper. It’s tall with short overhangs, so even the optional 17-inch wheels (16-inch wheels … [Read more...] about 2018 Ford EcoSport is too little, too late

The subcompact SUV class is exploding, and one of its newest members is actually not so fresh. The 2018 Ford EcoSport has been on sale in Europe for years but is just now making its U.S. debut. Although its cute-ute looks charm from the outside, there are some major problems with Ford's newest import. Related: 2018 Ford EcoSport Starts at $20,990 First, its road manners need work. These are the first images of the recently unveiled 2018 Ford EcoSport Storm edition. The teaser campaign of the Ford EcoSport Storm had already given an idea of the design of the SUV. The highlights of the EcoSport Storm is obviously the design paired with the list of features it offers. The EcoSport Storm is a 4WD SUV that will be available with both petrol and diesel engines. Ford has finally brought its subcompact crossover to the United States. The 2018 Ford EcoSport, pronounced “EchoSport” for some reason, is hitting dealer lots as I type. Available in other markets since 2012, the recently refreshed second-generation EcoSport arrives on our shores to take on segment favorites like the Mazda CX-3 and Buick Encore. The world seems to love mini crossovers. Ford is late to the party here, but the Blue Oval crowd are trying to make up ground with a class leading vehicle the best they could do on a budget. We have not driven the EcoSport, but we have sat in it. If anyone asks, we did not break any trim pieces. After sitting in the EcoSport, opening its doors, touching its Cozy Coupe-grade plastics, using its inconvenient rear hatch, and not being able fit my feet into the back seat, it is obvious that it is not good. No road test will change that. But here we are, and Ford needs to offer a product in this segment. Engineering a vehicle for Third … [Read more...] about The 2018 Ford EcoSport Hacks Your Life
