January 30, 2017 14:00 by Robert Moore When Kia came to the U.S. market, it became known as a producer of affordable but reliable cars that were fairly comfortable and looked decent. But, none of the models were really anything to write home about, and certainly couldn’t be compared with models like the BMW 3 Series and 4 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, or anything else outside of the affordable segment. When the 2014 Detroit Auto Show kicked off, Kia Debuted the GT4 Stinger along with a promise to bring such a model into production and, three years later, Kia kept its promise and debuted the Kia Stinger at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. Offered in the U.S. with a 255-horsepower four-banger or a 365-horsepower, twin-turbo, V-6, along with a very comfortable and upscale interior and a sexy exterior shell, the Stinger was a show stopper for the Korean brand as it steps into the luxury performance market. DETROIT (AP) — Federal safety investigators have expanded probes into Hyundai and Kia engine failures to include complaints about fires in the automakers’ vehicles. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says in a letter to Sen. Bill Nelson of Florida that it has 402 fire complaints with and without collisions. Nelson and the nonprofit Center for Auto Safety had asked if the agency was investigating the fires. Deputy Administrator Heidi King told Nelson in a letter released Wednesday that the agency has included non-collision fires in the engine failure probes. She wrote that many who complained of engine failures also reported fires. In May of 2017 the government began investigating whether the automakers moved quickly enough to recall over 1.6 million vehicles because of engines stalling. Messages were left seeking comment from the automakers. Last year the companies said they were cooperating with the investigation. The Kia Sportage has only been around in its current form since about the 2017 model year, but the company is already going to release a refreshed model. The 2019 Kia Sportage small crossover has been spotted testing at the 'Ring. And there was nothing on it to keep us from seeing the changes. Overall, the changes are pretty minor. The major differences appear to be in the front bumper. There are now twin chrome strips that divide the outboard bumper grilles in half. Those grilles are also a little taller and more angular now. The foglights inside are also now split by the chrome strip. The large lower center grille is also more aggressive and looks bigger. Around the back, the taillights have differently shaped light elements. It also now picks up a red crossbar connecting the rear lights. The faux skid plate on the rear bumper looks rather unchanged, as do the tail pipes. But the rear reflectors and turn signals have slightly different shapes. We expect this new Sportage to be … [Read more...] about 2019 Kia Sportage crossover spied uncovered at Nurburgring

However, the automaker is working on the new 2019 Ford Kuga that should come with a handful of updates. However, the Kuga should also be offered with a plug-in hybrid engine under its hood. But, for a PHEV version of the Ford Kuga, we’ll have to wait until the year 2021. In general, the Ford Kuga looks attractive, has a spacious interior with many standard features. However, the infotainment system is not as easy to use as expected, so this time we could see some changes in this area. In addition, compared to the most recent versions of SEAT Ateca and Peugeot 3008, the Kuga starts to look a little outdated. Then, to keep it fresh, the automaker could update it with new details.
