At xBhp we normally do not have anything to do with cars. Except in the rare instances when the cars are prefixed with the word ‘super’! The Auto Expo 2016 was of course a perfect setting for people to visit and ogle at the gorgeous motorcycles on display, but some cars were sufficiently beautiful to grab our interest. So here are a bunch of ‘superb’cars which we captured through our lenses and we hope you will appreciate these vehicles as much as we did! Hopefully we would get a chance to jump behind the wheel for another iteration of Driver vs. Rider. Honda Project 2&4 Now most readers of xBhp are not used to the shock of seeing cars on this forum, so we will ease you into this different world by first presenting a motorcycle, er car. Err, the Honda Project 2&4. Where the Japanese company has beautifully amalgamated the adrenalin pumping nature of two-wheelers with that of four. It houses a litre engine derived for MotoGP in it and can easily be … [Read more...] about Auto Expo 2016: The Car Pavilions!

Supercars made in the UK have become much lighter on the pockets thanks to the Pound sterling’s fall post Britain’s decision to exit the European Union. Brands such as Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, Land Rover, Ferrari and Bentley have cut prices by almost Rs. 20 lakhs to more than a crore! Pound’s fall of about 20 percent in less than a year has made exports to India cheaper for UK based manufacturers. Prices for such cars have gone down by 5 to 15 percent, and with this, carmakers have decided to pass on the benefits to prospective customers hoping to attract more and more of them for their cars. Aston Martin has been reducing prices over the past 6-9 months, Rolls-Royce and Ferrari reduced the prices during the last month, and Land Rover followed suit by reducing prices effective from 1st April 2017. There were a total of 200 number of cars sold in India in 2016, that cost Rs. 2 crore and above, and about half of them were British made. According to the UK industry … [Read more...] about Exotic Car Prices Reduced By Up To Rs. 1 Crore Due to Brexit
Henrik Fisker will emerge at the L.A. Auto Show to present, as we guessed three weeks earlier, a special 2015 Ford Mustang. It’s going to be called “Rocket.” Ooooh, ahhhh. The Rocket is a one-off showpiece stemming from a collaboration between the former Fisker Automotive CEO and Galpin Auto Sports, a California tuning company that built the 1024-hp Ford GTR1 and which is affiliated with the world’s biggest-selling Ford dealer, Galpin Motors. The teaser sketch signed by Fisker himself shows a “carbon-fiber-bodied” Mustang fastback wearing some big shoes and what appear to be slots for brake-cooling ducts on the rear fenders. It also appears from the sketch that Fisker may have filled in the rear-quarter glass, perhaps drawing inspirations from the extra-sleek Iacocca Edition Mustang from 2009. The designer’s creation, like every exotic car he’s ever penned, is bound to be pretty when the wrap comes … [Read more...] about Rocket Man: Henrik Fisker’s New Car Is a Carbon-Fiber-Bodied Mustang
For most of us, a beginner race car is a LeMons beater or possibly a spec Mazda Miata. For those who traipse between Manhattan loft and Miami penthouse, cars like the new McLaren 570S Sprint are how one gets a track fix.Exotic-car manufacturers are only too happy these days to sell track-prepped specials, and given that the 570S Sprint is not street legal, it is truly a track-only machine—although it’s not eligible for any race series. Like the 570S GT4, which does compete in the FIA GT4 class in Europe, the Sprint is a single-seat, stripped-out version borrowing the GT4’s front splitter, rear wing, and underbody aerodynamics. Not one but two front dive planes are fixed to each fender. The twin-turbo 3.8-liter V-8 and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission are unchanged from the standard 570S. With 562 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque moving less mass—how much less, McLaren won’t say—it should beat the 2.7-second run to 60 mph that we … [Read more...] about McLaren 570S Sprint: Among Exotics, an Entry-Level Track Car
Let’s face it, with the exotic-car production explosion over the past decade or so, a Ferrari 360/430/458/488 just isn’t as special as a high-end, mid-engined European machine used to be. On the lower end, a 1970s Porsche 914 or a Fiat X1/9 paints you as a bit of a nerd—and perhaps actively poor. What’s the discerning man gotta do to stand out? With Lamborghini Jalpa and Silhouette prices on the rise, a pre-Gallardo baby Lambo might be out of the question, and your anti-Ford stance most definitely takes De Tomaso’s Dearborn-powered Pantera and Mangusta out of the equation. The answer, friends, is none other than the Zimmer Quicksilver. While you might be familiar with Zimmer’s fabulous Golden Spirit, a neoclassic automobile that recalls the Mercedes-Benz SSK while making use of readily available Ford underpinnings, the Quicksilver utilized the Pontiac Fiero’s unique platform to create a classy-plus-classy machine that turns heads faster than the … [Read more...] about Get Exotic! I’ve been an artist my entire life, doodling cars on pads, on restaurant placemats, and in college notebooks. I’m not naïve enough to think that it would actually land me anywhere, especially considering that the odds of making it into the NBA are better than those of becoming a car designer. So color me surprised when I won Blipshift’s “Dancing with Cars” T-shirt design competition last year, granting me attendance at Car and Driver’s 2016 Lightning Lap track test at Virginia International Raceway. When the time rolls around, I fly from New York to Raleigh-Durham airport, a pleasant drive through North Carolina’s rolling hills away from VIR, and will spend two nights in between a full day at the track with the Car and Driver crew. When I arrive, the gate attendant checks me in—no hotel lobby here—and I head to my room overlooking Turn Five. The twilight view of the track and infield hills is somewhat surreal, eerily quiet … [Read more...] about Disco Inferno: How I Won a T-Shirt Contest and Wound Up at Lightning Lap 2016 with Car and Driver

They have nicer things. – Leonard Schreiber, DVMI try to avoid superlatives unless the object of said superlatives is, well, truly superlative. In this case, however, they may be applied without reservation. The McLaren 675LT is an extraordinary car, with performance capabilities exceeded by fewer than a handful of very limited production vehicles. Perhaps what makes it most extraordinary, though, is just how well it performs as an ordinary car.Classified ads for supercars rarely contain significant odometer readings. Ferrari’s own surveys show their customers typically do not manage to cover 3,000 miles a year. Why? A local high-end car enthusiast once told me that most … [Read more...] about 2016 McLaren 675LT Review – Appreciation of an Extraordinary Automobile
In the middle of a desert, a fleet of gorgeous supercars sat patiently, awaiting the next slightly hungover bachelor party, or group of corporate khaki-wearers. Yet, I could feel the unmistakable sense of power as I arrived at Exotics Racing in Las Vegas. These beasts waited to be unchained by a capable driver.Exotics Racing is the brainchild of stunt driver and former Euro NASCAR champion Romain Thievin.“I started with almost nothing,” says Thievin. “And now, I own over 50 exotic cars.”With locations outside of Las Vegas and Los Angeles, Exotics Racing is the perfect place for pleated Dockers-wearing cubicle dwellers to have team-building events. Thievin’s fleet includes everything from Lamborghini Huracans to Audi R8s to Porsche 991 GT3s. But when I called Exotics Racing to let them know I was in town, Thievin and his team insisted that I drive the latest addition to their impressive fleet.Behold, the McLaren … [Read more...] about 2016 McLaren 570S Track Review – Sure Bet on the Strip
Considering I’ve driven hundreds of miles to attend music concerts and recently spent Memorial Day driving across three states to buy a guitar not far from Memphis, I suppose driving 600 miles or so to New York on the odd chance that I’d get to interview Christian von Koenigsegg wasn’t actually that odd.The Koenigsegg car company scheduled a press conference at the New York Auto Show, and I wanted to shake the hand of a man who — along with just a few dozen of his fellow Swedes — managed to show that Ferdinand Piech and the VW empire’s Bugattis aren’t necessarily the biggest BSDs in the automotive world.Koenigsegg cars genuinely deserve normally overused superlatives like “amazing” and “incredible.” How else would you describe a street-legal passenger car, intended to be a bit softer and luxurious than previous Koenigseggs, with a total of 1,900 horsepower and 1,475 pounds-feet of torque from its … [Read more...] about Christian Koenigsegg Is a Genius Who Builds Amazing Cars, But Is Koenigsegg a Real Car Company?
Stress and nervous tension are now serious social problems in all parts of the Galaxy, and it is in order that this situation should not be in any way exacerbated that the following facts will now be revealed in advance.Douglas Adams, “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”The Cadillac XTS is a good car. Those who wish to know why I feel this to be true, or to shout angrily at me in the comments, may feel free to click the “Read More” button now. It’s no secret to any Friends of Bark (whom shall now be referred to as FOB) that, when it comes to picking rental cars, I dig the Chevy Impala. It’s powerful enough to break the front tires loose in just about any situation, and large enough to legally carry three to four adult colleagues (or illegally transport six adults across the border into Canada, but I don’t recommend doing that). However, the Impala’s stablemate, the Buick LaCrosse, has always felt just a bit … meh. Perhaps … [Read more...] about 2016 Cadillac XTS Rental Review
