The Tesla Model S and Model X are losing their base battery pack, Ford and VW might announce something big soon, Brexit bad news, and also other bad news involving job cuts and airbags. All that and more in the Morning Shift for January 10, 2019. 1st Gear: Tesla Model S and Model X are Losing Their Base 75 kWh Battery Pack Yesterday we learned in an extremely official press release that Tesla’s Model S flagship sedan and its Model X SUV will soon no longer be available with the 75 kWh battery, which offers the least range in either vehicle’s trim lineup, but also the lowest cost by far. I wad kidding about the press release part. The news was an Elon tweet, of course: The 75 kWh Tesla Model S costs $66,750 versus $84,750 for the next trim up, called the 100D. The 75 kWh Model X will run you $72,950 versus $87,950 for the 100D. 2019 Lexus CT Release Date 2019 Lexus CT 2019 Lexus CT Review – After the recent updates, it’s pretty clear that the Lexus CT 2019 will not have major changes. A famous hybrid sedan has recently received the latest updates, indicating that there will be no major changes in the coming years. The original version of this attractive compact hatch arrived in 2010. It is still in the first generation, but we have already seen two updates. The first one took place in 2014, while the second one was recent, for the current model of 2018 years. Both updates included several changes in visual appearance, both in terms of equipment. On the other hand, it is more likely that the propulsion system and mechanics will remain unchanged until the complete redesign. Considering all this, it is almost certain that 2019 TC continues unchanged. This compact car will have approximately the same design and a similar list of standard features, with few possible additions. 2019 Lexus CT Design … [Read more...] about 2019 Lexus CT Specs, Price, Changes
The 2018 Lexus GX 460 has been on sale since late 2009. There have been a few minor updates, but a 2018 model is essentially the same as one from 2010. It's based on the global Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and shares more than a little with the Toyota 4Runner. It slots between the Lexus RX and the big daddy Lexus LX. Despite its age, it's still a seller. Sales were up in 2017. In fact, the GX had its best year in the U.S. since 2005. Blame cheap gas all you want. Really, people just want SUVs. We have a base-spec model. The only option is navigation. There's no heated seats or upgraded audio or safety features like blind-spot monitoring or active cruise control. It's basic and honest, but it also highlights just how out of date the GX really is. Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore: The GX 460 is a body-on-frame, V8-powered, three-row grunt. It's comfortable and functional, but in a segment with more than a few options, this one struggles to stand out. The styling is polarizing yet somehow also … [Read more...] about 2018 Lexus GX 460 Drivers’ Notes Review
