RENTON, Washington — Ford is getting out of the sedan business! It’s like saying General Electric is getting out of light bulbs or Campbell’s is abandoning chicken-noodle soup. That’s why Ford’s announcement last spring brought activity to a halt in the corridors of General Motors’ Detroit headquarters, in the halls of its R&D and design departments in Warren, and even inside GM assembly plants like the one in Kansas City, Kansas, where Chevrolet makes the Malibu.Accustomed to being cross-shopped against the Blue Oval, Chevrolet licked its lips and said, “We’ll take that business.” Gaining market share since falling to a low point in 2014, Chevy today fields a competitive offering in every market segment from mini-utility to supercar. The 2019 Malibu RS is an example how it will “take that business.” Adopting the RS trim level for the first time, the Malibu, which is refreshed this year, is an appealing midsize sedan, … [Read more...] about First Drive: 2019 Chevrolet Malibu RS

I thumbed the start button, adjusted the mirrors, and backed away from the coffee shop. A couple of miles later, my co-driver/navigator was distracted and we missed a turn on our route guide. I hustled around an unexpected roundabout, trying to make up time, and the mid-sized sedan dove into the corners like a much smaller car. It’s remarkable how unremarkable the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu RS really is. I expected a dull car with dull responses and no power — which would provide ample opportunity for devastating snark. And yet, I can’t stop thinking about how surprisingly well this Chevy drives. Chevrolet invited journalists to Seattle to drive both this Malibu RS and the facelifted Camaro (more on that later this week) and, honestly, I wasn’t particularly jazzed to drive the Malibu. After all, when you look at it on paper, it’s a relatively low-powered midsize sedan, tarted up with big wheels and “sporty” trim, with a new transmission that should … [Read more...] about 2019 Chevrolet Malibu RS First Drive – Curiously Viable Transportation
2019 Chevrolet Malibu Price, Changes 2019 Chevrolet Malibu Review – Chevrolet will launch its new median sedan under the name of Malibu for the next two years. And in one way or another, we are waiting for this new Chevrolet. Chevrolet seems to have finished with the conceptual version of the new Chevrolet Malibu. And it can be proven by so many spy photos on the Internet. Today we are going to talk about the New 2019 Chevy Malibu version of the concept. And I hope this can give you a clear idea of the upcoming launch this year. And this yr, Chevrolet engineers take a look at the concept version of the brand new 2019 Chevrolet Malibu. At first glance, we can see that there is some improvement in its design. 2019 Chevrolet Malibu Exterior Design On the front of your body, we can see the new headlights. It’s a different beacon, and they’re better, so it looks even sportier. In redesigning the midsize Chevrolet Malibu sedan for the 2016 model year, General Motors shaved an impressive amount of weight from the not-so-well-regarded eighth-generation model. It also stretched the wheelbase, adding volume to a rear seat many found lacking. Now boasting carefully creased body panels, the lithe-looking new Malibu relegated the chunky, previous design to the Island of Bad Bodies. That frowny face could still use some work, many said at the time. For 2019, GM takes care of that, updating — fairly extensively — the model’s visage in a mid-cycle refresh. The Malibu also sees the addition of a dedicated “sporty” trim. As seen in these photos, the Malibu adopts a larger grille and a less compartmentalized front fascia for 2019. If the previous model looked a little ornery, the new one appears somewhat joyous. Gone are the LED-ringed side vents, replaced by secondary lights (and trim) that flow towards the bottom of the now-taller grille. … [Read more...] about For 2019, the Chevrolet Malibu Puts on a Happier Face
Was it really 22 months ago that I first encountered the fleet-customers-only 2016 Chevrolet Malibu? Indeed it was — and although the rental companies were quick to take advantage of what was presumably an absolutely massive discount on the General’s leftovers, they have not been in a hurry to release their inventory of these cars into the auction lanes. That’s particularly true in the case of our local National Car Rental franchisee, which is actually a Chevrolet dealer in disguise. Which explains why Danger Girl’s final car rental of the year turned out to be a rather well-worn and thoroughly undistinguished example of the fleet-spec ‘Bu LTZ.Why review this car yet again? Simple. You’d never guess it, but my review of the rental-spec Chevrolet Captiva turned out to be one of the biggest articles in TTAC history. A lot of people who were looking at ex-rental Captivas in the used market ended up reading it and (one hopes) learning something about the … [Read more...] about 2016 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ Rental Review – Your Next Used Car?
