The all-new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R that was launched internationally just a few months ago, has been launched in India, priced at Rs 10.49 lakh ex-showroom. The pricing is introductory though, and Kawasaki tells us prices will go up significantly when revised. Kawasaki dealers had started accepting bookings for the Ninja ZX-6R in October last year itself, thereby confirming that an India launch for the bike was on the cards and the manufacturer announced the pricing today. Malaysia’s quarter-litre sports bike segment is extremely competitive, notably for young men with hot blood who are getting on their first “real” motorcycle. Updated and revised is the 2019 Kawasaki Ninja 250, priced at RM23,071 – we were informed by Kawasaki the rise in price is due to foregin exchange issues – which goes head-to-head with the Yamaha YZF-R25, retailing at RM19,643. Kawasaki Motors Malaysia does offer the full-fairing Ninja in both single and two-cylinder flavours, the former being the SL, which is getting long in the tooth now. Bikers all over India head out on the weekends to the open highways in groups to enjoy their “bike-time” without the regular city traffic. West Bengal police have started a crackdown on such bike groups and have seized as many as 40 bikes in a single day. Here’s what happened. Bikes seized The video shows various bikes including Kawasaki Z250, Kawasaki Ninja 650, KTM RC390 and Honda CBR 250R being seized among others. Most of the bikes seen in the video are performance bikes available in the market. The police force deployed on the highway stop the bikers for checks and have also set-up speed traps that are targetted at the bikers. Later in the video, a couple of cops can be seen riding the seized Kawasaki Z250 and the Ninja 650. The senior police officer says that currently the crackdown has taken place at only one place and in the coming weeks, the cops will do such more surprise checks across the state. According to a post from Kawasaki Bengaluru showroom, a customer has received delivery of the first Kawasaki Ninja 400 in South India. The bike keys were handed over to the proud owner of the Ninja 400, Mr Lakshman.Kawasaki India launched the Ninja 400 in April, priced at INR 4.69 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), and within a few days, Kawasaki dealers started offering discounts of INR 20,000 on the bike. The Kawasaki Ninja 400 began reaching dealerships in June, and the company has delivered eight units to date.Kawasaki unveiled the Ninja 400 at the Tokyo Motor Show 2017. The bike replaces the Ninja 300 globally. However, the latter continues to be on sale in India. The Kawasaki Ninja 400 rivals the Yamaha YZF R3, KTM RC 390, TVS Apache RR 310, and the Benelli 302R in India. Kawasaki is looking at a mega price drop for the Ninja 300, twin cylinder sportsbike. While the Ninja 300 was priced at Rs. 3.6 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi, when it was on sale in India, Kawasaki plans to relaunch the bike at a much lower price tag – between Rs. 2.5 lakhs to Rs. 2.7 lakhs. So, that’s nearly a Rs. 1 lakh+ price drop on Kawasaki’s entry-level sportsbike. How will Kawasaki manage this? Well, higher localization levels. The Japanese motorcycle giant is in talks with Indian vendors to localize the motorcycle in a big way. This will allow Kawasaki to price the motorcycle a lot more affordably, making it a KTM RC 390 rival. The Ninja 300 is currently imported into India from Thailand through the completely knocked down (CKD) kit route. The motorcycle uses a 296cc, twin cylinder parallel twin engine that produces a peak power of 39 Bhp and peak torque at 27 Nm.
