2004 land rover discovery
In the crowded metropolis of Hong Kong lives a man who knows more about off-road vehicles than possibly anyone else on earth. He has raced the Dakar Rally, torn apart priceless vehicles just to see how they work, written a book called The 4x4 Bible, and taught off-roading skills to locals. His name is Victor Ma, and while you may not have heard of him before, he is the King of Off-Roaders. Type his name into Google and you’ll find the mysterious collector mentioned dozens of times in 4x4-related articles and forum threads, but you’ll be hard-pressed to find anything more. Despite being widely renowned in China as the foremost authority on all things off-road, Ma has remained largely a mystery to the western world. Until now. Meeting The King Last year, as my brother Mike walked to the subway, he spotted some cool vehicles in the window of a shop in Fo Tan, an industrial area in Hong Kong. Curious, he popped in and met a man whose enthusiasm for four-wheel drives impressed … [Read more...] about This Man Is The Four-Wheel Drive King Of The World And His Collection Will Blow Your Mind

Land Rover has a reputation for being one of the most unreliable brands on the market. And yet, people still drive them like they’re going out of style. Today’s Nice Price or Crack Pipe Freelander is a Land Rover that has actually gone out of style, but will its price have you bringing it back? Reading through the comments on yesterday’s accident marred 2007 Aston Martin V8 Vantage caused a song to pop into my head. It was the No No Song as recorded by Ringo Starr and Harry Nilsson. It seemed perfectly fitting with the former Beatle and the Aston both being British, and each having notable noses. It was also an apt indicator of your general opinions on that wrecked Aston and its $17,950 price. No, no was the most common answer to the combination of car and price and both fell in a substantial 77-percent Crack Pipe loss. That Aston wasn’t a cautionary tale simply because of its obvious—and less obvious—damage, it was also a product of the flagging … [Read more...] about At $4,499, Could This 2004 Land Rover Freelander SE3 Set You Free?
So Land Rover has been in the truck-making game for 70 years now. That’s an impressive string, especially when you consider what the British automotive industry went through in the late-70s, early-80s. But here we are, and as you would expect, Land Rover decided to celebrate. And how did they celebrate this milestone? By making a giant Defender in the snow of the French Alps, of course. No, it doesn’t make much sense to me either, but it’s still kind of cool. The giant Land Rover snow art was made in anticipation of World Land Rover Day, April 30th, which will be exactly 70 years since the original Landy was first shown at the 1948 Amsterdam Motor Show. Vertical Limits In La Plagne, France, which is southwest from Chamonix, snow artist Simon Beck, who somehow has a job creating geometric art on foot, confronted sub-zero temperatures to produce the outline of a Defender 820 feet across, 9,000 feet up in the French Alps. Yeah, the idea is kind of nutty, and the … [Read more...] about Land Rover “Draws” Massive Defender Outline At 9,000 Feet In The French Alps
To celebrate 70 years since the Land Rover debut back in 1948 at the Amsterdam Motor Show, the company has now confirmed the 30th of April 2018 will become World Land Rover Day. A huge 250m wide Defender outline was drawn in the French Alps snow by Simon Beck to mark Land Rover’s 70th anniversary. We are not sure what to expect on the 30th of April but if you want to watch what the manufacturer has up their sleeve and to take part in the celebrations, go to www.youtube.com/landrover at 21h00 SAST and use the hashtag #LandRover70Years Take a look at all the Land Rover models from the past 70 years below the video clip. 70 YEARS OF LAND ROVER TIMELINE 1948 Land Rover Series I launched at the Amsterdam Motor Show 1953 Long Wheelbase version of the Series I is introduced 1956 Oxford and Cambridge teams complete on London to Singapore expedition in Series I … [Read more...] about 70 Years Of Land Rover Brings World Land Rover Day
This spring Ford will introduce a new flagship engine to its perennial best-selling and recent Motor Trend Truck-of-the-Year-winning F-150 pickup line—a 3.0-liter 250-hp, 440-lb-ft Power Stroke turbodiesel V-6 capable of hauling 2,020 pounds or towing 11,400. We asked what took so long because Ford essentially started work on this “Duratorq/Lion” series engine in 1999 and has been building and selling it since 2004 (in Jaguars, Land Rovers, Peugeots, Citroëns, and an Aussie Ford SUV). In response, engineers downplayed the association with these earlier engines, claiming that North American diesel engineers from the 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 program thoroughly redesigned it, and when pressed on the timing they suggested that the stars have only just fully aligned with the arrival of the 10-speed automatic in the aluminum truck. So how new is this “lion-hearted” engine? The compacted graphite iron block and 16.1:1 compression ratio carry over, but the … [Read more...] about 2018 Ford F-150 Power Stroke Diesel First Look: Lionhearted
