Listen to this article The Dodge Viper keeps a very special place in the world of performance and sports vehicles and in the hearts of auto enthusiasts. When the first generation of the model went into production in 1991, it became a sensation on the market with its monstrous V10 naturally aspirated engine and impressive performance. The final model year for the Viper was 2017, though examples of the vehicle were still available at the dealers a few years later . There’s no better way to celebrate the life of one of the greatest sports cars in history than a drag race between two Vipers. This is no ordinary race, however – or, rather, the two competitors are far from being standard factory Vipers. The video at the top of this page comes from the Hoonigan channel on YouTube and shows us two very capable machines going against each other . Listen to this article With the Car of the Future era coming to a close this weekend, Holdens will feature on the Supercars grid for the final time before being replaced by Camaros next season. To farewell the brand WAU, the most famous Holden squad of the modern era, has recreated one of its most iconic liveries for the Adelaide 500. The livery is based on the look used in 1990s, in the years immediately after Tom Walkinshaw founded the Holden Racing Team. HRT was Holden's factory Supercars team from 1990 to 2016 before the works backing moved to Triple Eight. What would later become WAU has continued to field Holdens in the years that followed, however will make a sensational defection to Ford when the Gen3 era kicks off in 2023. The 1990-inspired livery will run across both its Commodores this weekend, with Chaz Mostert's major sponsor Optus also reviving its old logo for the livery. For Nick Percat , meanwhile, the send-off is particularly poignant given he … [Read more...] about Famous Holden livery revived for Adelaide
For its second season under GT3 regulations in 2022, the DTM took a major step forward in competitiveness. Not only were grid sizes bigger, only once dipping below 20 cars as a product of the Hockenheim race one crash-fest, but the pool of quality drivers scrapping for honours was back to a level comparable with the manufacturer-based Class 1 era with a mix of established factory drivers and hotshoes with plenty to prove. No less than 11 different drivers took a pole position, while the same number took victories in a season characterised by unpredictability. That is to be expected in a championship governed by Balance of Performance, which changed regularly throughout race weekends in an effort to keep the different brands in check, but it meant consistency was a precious commodity. Through it all came Sheldon van der Linde, who delivered BMW a first title since 2016 as his Schubert Motorsport team and the BMW M4 GT3 made a memorable introduction to the series. But which of … [Read more...] about Ranking the top 10 drivers of DTM 2022

Netting an extra $10 million with their P6, Alfa Romeo team boss Fred Vasseur has taken a dig at Christian Horner over what he can now do with that “five times nothing”. Vasseur was one of the more vocal team bosses as rumours began to swirl around the paddock claiming Red Bull have breached the 2021 budget cap ceiling. That was later confirmed by the FIA, Red Bull found guilty of exceeding the cap by $2.2m although team boss Christian Horner was insistent that there was “zero benefit” from the overspend . Vasseur is looking forward to seeing what he can do with five times zero. “It’s the difference we have with the cost cap,” the Alfa Romeo team principal said to GPFans . “I know one of my colleagues said two million is nothing but now we have five times nothing.” Alfa Romeo went into the season finale in Abu Dhabi five points up on Aston Martin with it all to play for. But it was evident in the practices and qualifying that it was the Aston Martin that had the … [Read more...] about Fred Vasseur’s dig at Horner as he looks forward to spending Alfa Romeo’s ‘five times nothing’
The most important U2 almost-breakup story takes place in Berlin. It's October 1990 and they've gathered at Hansa Studios, a short walk from where the Wall is being dismantled a little bit more every day. Bono, the Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. have left Dublin to try to become U2 again. Or try not to become U2 again. Nobody can seem to agree. Is this a dance record? Industrial rock? And where is that majestic and moody material that made them a household name with "The Joshua Tree"? Only three years earlier that LP sold millions, landed the band on the cover of Rolling Stone, scored a Grammy for album of the year and immediately became one of the definitive rock albums of its time. Hansa is where David Bowie recorded "Heroes" with Brian Eno, the art rock visionary who is now U2's producer. The Edge is working on a demo called "Sick Puppy." It's promising, but still just a meandering jam. Mullen has some questions about what exactly the band is trying to accomplish. … [Read more...] about U2 has stayed together since 1976. Listen to this article For its first year as Aston Martin after the rebranding of Racing Point, four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel arrived for the final two seasons of his F1 career. For 2023, his seat will be taken by Fernando Alonso , another all-time great who ditched Alpine in favour of Aston Martin. Engineering talent has arrived from throughout the grid, bolstering a team that, after years of punching above its weight on a shoestring budget, now has the might to mount a charge for the very front of the grid. Back in March 2021, Stroll outlined a five-year plan for Aston Martin to be challenging for F1 titles, with a big part of the blueprint being a new, state-of-the-art factory out of which it will operate. Last September, ground was broken on the 37,000-square metre site around the existing factory at Silverstone, once home to the team's distant predecessor, Jordan, with the goal of having it up and running in 2023. Last week, Motorsport.com was … [Read more...] about Inside Aston Martin’s new £200m ‘game changer’ F1 factory
Listen to this article Tuesday's announcement that Binotto would be leaving his role as team principal at the end of the season came following weeks of speculation he was being ushered towards the exit after 28 years. Ferrari said in the statement making Binotto's departure official that the process to find a new team principal was "underway" and "expected to be finalised in the new year." Alfa Romeo F1 boss Frederic Vasseur is the favourite for the job, with the links dating back several weeks as the rumours began to swirl in the paddock. But replacing the man at the very top of the F1 operation is not the only challenge that Ferrari chairman John Elkann and CEO Benedetto Vigna now face: they also need to find a new technical chief. Upon taking the reins at Ferrari in 2019, Binotto adopted an unconventional dual role running the team, as no replacement was promoted into his previous role as technical chief. Binotto rose through the ranks at Maranello after … [Read more...] about The added complication Ferrari faces in its hunt for Binotto’s F1 successor
Ross Brawn has applauded Formula 1’s decision to do away with unanimous decisions, saying with eight teams “we can get things done in the short term” while only five are needed for decisions affecting the next season. Appointed as F1’s managing director by Liberty Media back in 2017, Brawn, at times, found himself butting heads with a team or two as any changes he and the rest of the sport’s bosses wanted to make had to be signed off by the teams. He said back in 2020 that it was “frustrating” for F1 bosses and the FIA that they had to get unanimous approval from the teams to make changes. He would rather F1 rely on a majority ruling. “I think we need the opinion of the competitors – we need to listen and we need to have the majority of competitors in favour of these ideas,” he told Racer at the time. “And I think if you can’t convince the majority, then you’re failing that. If you get one or maybe two people stopping something which the vast majority want and F1 want and the … [Read more...] about Ross Brawn applauds F1’s decision to drop unanimous agreement: ‘We can get things done’
