Nice Price Or Crack Pipe Is this used car a good deal? You decide! The seller of today’s Nice Price or Crack Pipe 951 describes it as being “rough around the edges.” It’ll be up to you to determine if its price makes roughing it worthwhile. I don’t why it is, but seems in popular cultures the little sister is always the provocateur. Younger, usually prettier and more vivacious, they’ve vexed everyone from Elvis Presley to Marilyn Manson. There’s really only two instances where the little sister gets the short shrift in comparison to their older sibling, those being matters involving Tiffany Trump, and Datsun’s second generation Z car, the 280ZX. We featured a 1982 Datsun 280ZX last Friday, and while its $7,600 asking did engender a narrow but laudable 52 percent Nice Price win, there wasn’t much love for the model as a whole represented in the comments. Many of us do love Porsches, some of dearly so in fact. However, within that … [Read more...] about At $9,999, Could This Sorta Rough 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo Turn Out to be a Smooth Deal?

9/1/2018 4:26 est Filed to: For Sale By: Bradley Brownell Comment RM SOTHEBY'S RM / Sotheby's held another exquisite sale this year in Monterey, selling a number of high-end Porsche examples. While the headlines were taken by the World-Record Ferrari 250 GTO sale (at a whopping 48.4 million dollars), there was plenty to see in Porsche land as well. The 550A Spyder shown above sold for nearly five million, making it an exceptionally high, if not record price for a car of its type. The 2004 Carrera GT, lot 118, sold for nearly one million, getting as close to that mark as I've ever seen the mid-2000s V10 supercar sell. It wasn't all that long ago that we were surprised to see Carrera GTs selling in the 500,000 dollar range. The 908 Kurzheck going unsold was certainly a surprise. Story and Photos by Zachary Mayne When Porsche 911 addict Alex Motola had to settle on a color for his ST-inspired 911 project, he took the easy way out. He simply left the decision to someone else. More specifically, that someone else was his daughter, Kate. He did limit her choices to the early Porsche color palette the factory had used. Despite his best efforts, the palette was quickly discarded by Kate, who simply said “pink.” Spoken like a true 7-year-old girl. “Well, pink wasn’t exactly going to cut it,” chuckles Alex. “Certainly not the bubble gum pink variety favored by 7-year-old girls.” Luckily, there is a shade in the vintage Porsche color catalogue that the two could agree upon: Fraise, which is French for “strawberry,” is a rarely seen color. … [Read more...] about Tasty Fraise: An Old-School Porsche 911 In Pink
8/8/2018 11:02 est Filed to: For Sale By: Bradley Brownell Comment This year's Monterey auctions look to have literally something for everyone, and all of the auction houses have gone all-in on Porsche lots, finding some of the best collector Porsches in the world. It's obvious that every year the Monterey auction selection is the best of any auctions all year, providing huge selection and ultimate prestige. In the Porsche world, there are some interesting shifting trends. For example, there is only one 959 available from the nearly two-hundred Porsche lots this year. Likewise, Porsche's transaxle cars are starting to experience something of a following, as multiple auction houses are featuring big-dollar watercooled cars. It'll be interesting to see how this year's sales play out, and sadly I won't be able to do it from Monterey, as I'm missing the festivities for the first time in 6 years. And don't forget about all of the open-top cars Gooding is selling! RM Sotheby's Lot 230 - … [Read more...] about The Incomparable Porsche 2018 Monterey Auction Preview
Tweet TweetIf you listen carefully, you can actually hear the scream of a very excited bunch of car collectors as they got their Barret-Jackson newsletter. It’s loaded with very, very interesting cars be them in rarity or refinement but this time one stands out in particular among them. That’ll be this pristine white 1986 Porsche 959. Being a 1986, their collector mind immediately imagined it as being one of the first ever made. It’s the prototype, the beginning of it all. Whereas in the real world most people don’t care too much for the Porsche 959, collectors know it’s value. Because of this car we now have modern advanced hypercars like the Bugatti Veyron and Lamborghini Aventador. Because of this car Porsche has the Carrera 4 in it’s lineup. Because of this car, the Porsche 911 Turbo is always going to be a four wheel drive car which can make the power accessible to all those who aren’t racing drivers. Aside from that, the Porsche 959 is … [Read more...] about 1986 Porsche 959 prototype to be auctioned soon
