The system uses existing safety tech to monitor and react to movement behind the patrol car. The same technology that helps people back into spaces and watches for cross traffic when backing out is being used to help protect police officers. The SRT Team Is Dead, Engineers Absorbed Within Stellantis: Report
Long live SRT! With the merger between FCA and PSA completed, the new Stellantis group is official . While initial reports almost pushed the Chrysler brand off the edge, Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares confirmed in a recent interview that it will be otherwise. Instead, Stellantis will prioritize reinvigorating the Chrysler marque in the US over bringing Peugeot across the Atlantic. As it stands, Chrysler is safe, but it seems like we weren't looking at the right place during the merger. Apparently, the one that will hit the ax under the Stellantis group is the Street and Racing Technology (SRT) Team. This is according to a Stellantis spokesperson who spoke to Mopar Insiders amid the looming rumors. Texas Woman Steals Police Car From Back Seat, Promptly Crashes It
Criminals never learn. One Texas woman is in custody after leading Lufkin Police on a high-speed pursuit this past weekend… in one of the department’s own vehicles. The 33-year-old suspect, Toscha Sponsler, was arrested on drug-related charges, handcuffed, and placed in the back of the patrol car before jumping in the driver’s seat of and taking off. The two officers were reportedly searching through the suspect’s belongings as she escaped one of the handcuffs and crawled through the partition. The high-speed chase involved the Lufkin Police Department with additional assistance from the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Texas Parks and Wildlife, and the Zavalla Police Department. The chase exceeded speeds of 100 miles per hour and moved from just outside of Lufkin to the neighboring city of … [Read more...] about Texas Woman Steals Police Car From Back Seat, Promptly Crashes It
Petersen to host Legends of LA exhibition and Parnelli Jones tribute
The 1963 Indy 500 winner, who several experts regard as one of the greatest and most versatile racers of all time and who should have scored at least four Indy victories in the 1960s, will be in attendance for a sitdown interview for the VIP Exhibition on Nov. 8 th . The Legends of Los Angeles exhibition will pay tribute to Southern California racecar builders, with a display of 11 cars constructed around the LA area. Among those honored include: Harry Miller, whose cars and engines were numerically and statistically dominant at Indy in the 1920s and early ’30s; Fred Offenhauser, who was LA-born and bred, and whose engines scored 24 Indy 500 wins; Frank Kurtis, whose cars won five Indy 500s and created the most dominant midget cars; Max Balchowsky, who became an expert on making hybrid (in the original sense) racecars by dropping huge engines into unlikely chassis. He raced the famous Buick V8-powered ‘Old Yeller’ Morgensen Special that could match and beat … [Read more...] about Petersen to host Legends of LA exhibition and Parnelli Jones tribute
Ford Driver Flips Finger To Camera Catching Possible AWD Mustang Mule
Weird brakes at the back, ornery person behind the wheel. This particular Ford Mustang leaves us with some interesting questions. For starters, it looks like a typical S550, albeit with an intriguing array of exterior bits. The chin, rocker panels, and wheels appear to be from the Mach 1. The front fascia isn't Mach 1, however, and there's no wing at the back. The reason for camo wrap on the front clip is also a mystery, and then we have the words "no brakes" written on the driver side window. Weird. Are you ready for things to get weirder? Our sources on these spy shots are rather confident this is a powertrain test mule, specifically for all-wheel drive. There is some evidence to back the claim up – a close look at the rear wheel reveals a dual-caliper setup that you don't find on normal Mustangs. However, you will find a similar arrangement on other all-wheel-drive models like the Dodge Charger . The janky wiring loom running into the rear wheel arch is easy to see, but … [Read more...] about Ford Driver Flips Finger To Camera Catching Possible AWD Mustang Mule
