Bizzarrini was founded by former Ferrari and Alfa Romeo engineer Giotto Bizzarrini in the 1960s to build high-end, low-volume sports cars. Before going his own way, the talented man was directly involved in the development of iconic cars such as the 250 GTO and the 250 GT SWB "Breadvan." Not only that, he also worked on Lamborghini's first V12 engine through his engineering company Societa Autostar. He also worked for Iso Rivolta before founding Societa Prototipi Bizzarrini (Bizzarrini S.p.A) in 1964. Some 140 vehicles were assembled at a plant in Livorno before the company went bust in 1969. Fast forward to 2020, Pegasus Brands acquired the rights to the "Bizzarrini" name in a bid to revive the brand. The 5300GT was brought back to life as a continuation model for a limited production run of 24 units, and now, Bizzarrini is previewing an all-new car. Nissan Max-Out Convertible Concept Comes To Life For Nissan Futures Event
This month, Nissan will be talking about the future in a series of events called Nissan Futures. While the name might not be particularly imaginative, the Max-Out concept car created to garner some attention for the program is quite the opposite. And if you're in the vicinity of Nissan's global headquarters in Japan over the next 30 days, you can drop by to see it. Or, you can see it from all angles in our photo gallery below. Don't worry if you find its swoopy convertible shape and grid-like green lines familiar. The Max-Out concept actually debuted way back in November 2021 as one of four "out" concept cars. One-Off Bugatti Chiron Profilee Sells For $10.8M At Auction
The Chiron is a success for Bugatti. The French automaker has sold all 500 of the build slots for the model and its variants. Now, even the pre-series model, the one-off Chiron Profilee was sold – and it's for a pretty, absolutely beautiful penny. In an auction held in France, the Bugatti Chiron Profilee was sold for 9,792,500 euros or $10,761,223 at the current exchange rates. This price doesn't include VAT, which will bring the price up to 12 million euros or over $13 million. Bugatti-Rimac CEO Mate Rimac claims that the Profilee now holds the world record for the most expensive new car sold at auction. The one-off Bugatti Chiron Profilee bridges the gap between the regular Chiron and the Chiron Pur Sport . Its development started in 2020, but despite Bugatti knowing that it was not meant to become a series vehicle, the automaker pushed through and finished the project. Powered by Bugatti's quad-turbocharged W16 engine, the Chiron Profilee produces an impressive 1,476 … [Read more...] about One-Off Bugatti Chiron Profilee Sells For $10.8M At Auction
Radical SR10 XXR Debuts With Aero Upgrades, Carbon Fiber Bits
In late December last year, Radical unveiled the SR3 XXR as a more potent and hardcore version of one of its most popular products. Now, the British company also upgrades the SR10 to XXR specification by adding aerodynamic and other upgrades to this more powerful race car. The single-seater now features new front louvers, which should improve the aerodynamics at high speeds and have a positive effect on handling and cooling, according to Radical. Another novelty comes in the form of an LMP-inspired central fin, also seen on the SR3 XXR. New lightweight alloy wheels and new front DRL lights round off the improvements that come as standard equipment for this optimized version of the SR10. Optionally, customers can have a new carbon splitter and diffuser package, which brings additional weight reduction. Watch The Mercedes-AMG One Tackle The Track From Third-Person View
Racing games give players new perspectives not always available to drivers in the real world. The third-person view behind a car is a genre staple, giving racers a broader view of the track and their competitors. A new video recreates this perspective, dangling a camera off the rear of a Mercedes-AMG One. It highlights the supercar’s stunning backside and captures its raucous exhaust note. Powering the AMG One is a Formula One-derived turbocharged 1.6-liter V6 engine paired with four electric motors. The total system output is 1,049 horsepower (782 kilowatts). It can propel the supercar to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in just 2.9 seconds. A run to 124 mph (200 kph) takes 7.0 seconds, topping out at 219 mph (352 kph). What are F1 teams permitted to do with their cars on ‘filming day’ shakedowns?
Ahead of the 2023 Formula 1 season, most of the teams will carry out at least one ‘filming day’ to shakedown their new machines. Haas became the first of the 10 teams to reveal their 2023 look earlier this week, with the American-based squad showing off the livery their VF-23 will race with. However, the VF-23 itself won’t be shown off until after the team have taken to the track with the car for the first time – Haas will hold a ‘shakedown’ of the car at Silverstone on February 11th. Most of the teams will elect to hold a shakedown of their new cars before the start of official pre-season testing in Bahrain in late February, as such shakedowns allow for any unforeseen mechanical or technical issues with the build of the new cars to be spotted and ironed out before the start of the critical three days of track testing. But how do these shakedowns fit into the current rules – how are teams able to carry out private track testing with a current car? F1 teams make use of an FIA … [Read more...] about What are F1 teams permitted to do with their cars on ‘filming day’ shakedowns?
