BMW M5 With Supercharged 730-HP V10 Hits 210+ MPH On Autobahn

February 1, 2023 by www.motor1.com Leave a Comment

We’ve seen plenty of fast BMWs on the Autobahn. But we have never seen anything like this particular M5 from the E60 generation. This is by far not a stock car and it is actually a one-off we’ve written about back in 2009. During the golden years of WorldCarFans , this beast had the "most powerful engine" ever seen on a "road-legal BMW." These are not our words. They come from Lumma Design and G-Power , which are the two companies that cooperated to develop and build this monstrous M5. It is surely not the most powerful road-legal BMW anymore but is still quite an impressive machine. This new video from the TopSpeedGermany channel shows us the vehicle in action and we have to admit it is astonishingly quick. G-Power Hurricane RS BMW M5 Touring hits 224 mph [video]

February 2, 2011 by www.motor1.com Leave a Comment

BMW tuning specialist G-Power first graced us with their record setting M5 Hurricane RS back in late 2008. After recording a speed of 367.6 km/h (228.4 mph), the 750 bhp (760 PS / 559 kW) sedan officially took the "fastest sedan in the world" record from the Mercedes CLS-Class based V12 BRABUS Rocket . Fortunately for G-Power, the vehicle to knock the HURRICANE RS off it's record setting throne is their very own M5 Hurricane RR which managed a top speed of 372 km/h (231 mph). E60 BMW M5 Touring wagon hitting 359 km/h (224 mph) on a German autobahn. Edited into the video you'll notice a small frame on the bottom right corner. This is showing the speed by the on-board PerformanceBox GPS datalogger. Alonso “wouldn’t accept” continuing in F1 at less than 100%

February 1, 2023 by www.motorsport.com Leave a Comment

Listen to this article Alonso returned to F1 with Alpine in 2021 after taking a two-year break to race in the FIA World Endurance Championship, the Indy 500 and the Dakar Rally. Alonso's third stint at the Enstone outfit got off to a slow start but once he got back up to speed the Spaniard re-found his old form, frequently suggesting he was driving at his best-ever level in 2022, a season which was blighted by reliability issues. For 2023, Alonso jumped ship to Aston Martin, which struggled last year to finish seventh in the constructors' championship. While the team is a step down from Alpine in the short term, the Lawrence Stroll-led outfit managed to convince Alonso with its long-term project, answering to Alonso's desire to stay in F1 for years to come. And the 41-year-old says he wouldn't have accepted to continue if he didn't think he was still capable of performing at his peak, or if he wasn't convinced that Aston can close the gap while he is still around. … [Read more...] about Alonso “wouldn’t accept” continuing in F1 at less than 100%

One-Off Bugatti Chiron Profilee Sells For $10.8M At Auction

February 1, 2023 by www.motor1.com Leave a Comment

The Chiron is a success for Bugatti. The French automaker has sold all 500 of the build slots for the model and its variants. Now, even the pre-series model, the one-off Chiron Profilee was sold – and it's for a pretty, absolutely beautiful penny. In an auction held in France, the Bugatti Chiron Profilee was sold for 9,792,500 euros or $10,761,223 at the current exchange rates. This price doesn't include VAT, which will bring the price up to 12 million euros or over $13 million. Bugatti-Rimac CEO Mate Rimac claims that the Profilee now holds the world record for the most expensive new car sold at auction. The one-off Bugatti Chiron Profilee bridges the gap between the regular Chiron and the Chiron Pur Sport . Its development started in 2020, but despite Bugatti knowing that it was not meant to become a series vehicle, the automaker pushed through and finished the project. Powered by Bugatti's quad-turbocharged W16 engine, the Chiron Profilee produces an impressive 1,476 … [Read more...] about One-Off Bugatti Chiron Profilee Sells For $10.8M At Auction

LUMMA CLS 730 RS Released with G-POWER 730hp Bi-Supercharger System

November 10, 2009 by www.motor1.com Leave a Comment

A German tuning/design company has just released a new performance tuning package for the BMW M5 E60.  Winterlingen-based Lumma Design has been working with the engineers at G-Power on an upgrade kit to the M-badged version of the 5-series. The result is a car that uses all 730 horsepower of a bi-compressor V10 to reach a maximum speed of over 367 km/h (228 mph).  The 700 Nm of torque helps the car go 0-100 km/h time in 4.2 seconds, reaching 200 km/h in just ten seconds.  300 km/h is achieved in 29.5 seconds. The companies claim this is the "most powerful engine" ever seen on a "road-legal BMW."  It is certainly a huge development over Lumma's CLR 500 RS released in 2007.  That car saw a "paltry" 560 horsepower. Certainly, these figures require non-stock brakes.  Lumma Design's own six-piston front, four-piston rear caliper brakes are used along with drilled 405mm discs.  Ultralight, three-piece forged 10x21 and 12Jx21 wheels at the nose and tail look great on the 45mm … [Read more...] about LUMMA CLS 730 RS Released with G-POWER 730hp Bi-Supercharger System

Watch The Mercedes-AMG One Tackle The Track From Third-Person View

February 1, 2023 by www.motor1.com Leave a Comment

Racing games give players new perspectives not always available to drivers in the real world. The third-person view behind a car is a genre staple, giving racers a broader view of the track and their competitors. A new video recreates this perspective, dangling a camera off the rear of a Mercedes-AMG One. It highlights the supercar’s stunning backside and captures its raucous exhaust note. Powering the AMG One is a Formula One-derived turbocharged 1.6-liter V6 engine paired with four electric motors. The total system output is 1,049 horsepower (782 kilowatts). It can propel the supercar to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in just 2.9 seconds. A run to 124 mph (200 kph) takes 7.0 seconds, topping out at 219 mph (352 kph). Bizzarrini Giotto Debuts With Naturally Aspirated V12, Giugiaro Design

February 1, 2023 by www.motor1.com Leave a Comment

Bizzarrini was founded by former Ferrari and Alfa Romeo engineer Giotto Bizzarrini in the 1960s to build high-end, low-volume sports cars. Before going his own way, the talented man was directly involved in the development of iconic cars such as the 250 GTO and the 250 GT SWB "Breadvan." Not only that, he also worked on Lamborghini's first V12 engine through his engineering company Societa Autostar. He also worked for Iso Rivolta before founding Societa Prototipi Bizzarrini (Bizzarrini S.p.A) in 1964. Some 140 vehicles were assembled at a plant in Livorno before the company went bust in 1969. Fast forward to 2020, Pegasus Brands acquired the rights to the "Bizzarrini" name in a bid to revive the brand. The 5300GT was brought back to life as a continuation model for a limited production run of 24 units, and now, Bizzarrini is previewing an all-new car. Radical SR10 XXR Debuts With Aero Upgrades, Carbon Fiber Bits

February 1, 2023 by www.motor1.com Leave a Comment

In late December last year, Radical unveiled the SR3 XXR as a more potent and hardcore version of one of its most popular products. Now, the British company also upgrades the SR10 to XXR specification by adding aerodynamic and other upgrades to this more powerful race car. The single-seater now features new front louvers, which should improve the aerodynamics at high speeds and have a positive effect on handling and cooling, according to Radical. Another novelty comes in the form of an LMP-inspired central fin, also seen on the SR3 XXR. New lightweight alloy wheels and new front DRL lights round off the improvements that come as standard equipment for this optimized version of the SR10. Optionally, customers can have a new carbon splitter and diffuser package, which brings additional weight reduction.
