Audi e-tron have been shared by the German automaker ahead of the crossover’s debut on September 17th. On the WLTP test cycle, which is more representative of real-world range than the outgoing NEDC test cycle, the e-tron will have an estimated maximum driving range of 248.5 miles – or 400 km. Key to this is the strong regenerative braking system, which contributes to roughly 30 percent of the e-tron’s range. Audi recently tested the system out by descending the 19-mile road down Pikes Peak (an altitude of over 6,200 feet) and it fed so much energy back to the batteries that it recuperated all 19 miles of range it would have otherwise used. Audi says the regenerative braking system is rated at 220 kW and 221 lb-ft and – making it more powerful than any other series production EV’s regen system. It can be a good idea to give people what they want, especially when you're a car manufacturer. Six of the 10 best-selling luxury vehicles for 2017 have one thing in common: They're all crossover SUVs. If you're a luxury automaker, it's clear which way the wind is blowing. Jaguar's F-Pace SUV has been met with strong success, and the brand seeks to broaden its reach with crossover shoppers by introducing the E-Pace for the 2018 model year. With a length of 173 inches, the E-Pace is smaller than the F-Pace, which measures in at 186.3 inches. The E-Pace is sold primarily in base and R-Dynamic trims, and a special First Edition trim will be available for the model's first full year of sales. Base and First Edition models are powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine good for 246 horsepower and 269 lb.-ft. of torque. R-Dynamic models get a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine good for 296 hp and 295 lb.-ft. of torque. All E-Pace crossovers are governed by a 9-speed automatic … [Read more...] about Jaguar’s handsome 2018 E-Pace brings these 8 strengths… but there’s also a shortcoming to keep in mind
UPDATE (17/4): We’ve updated this article with new details of some of the models listed. Electric cars are coming, there’s no stopping it. Here’s a quick look at 10 noteworthy electric vehicles (EVs) heading for market in the next three years. The Ioniq is Hyundai’s answer to the Toyota Prius, available in three flavours – hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric. It’s unclear whether we’ll get both hybrid versions, but Hyundai Australia plans to introduce the Ioniq Electric around mid-2018, and has “quite strong interest” from government and fleet operators. Powering the electric version is an 88kW/295Nm electric motor, hooked up to a 28kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Claimed range is 280km. MORE: 2017 Hyundai Ioniq review It’s been almost 10 months since the official reveal, and Tesla maintains – for now – the Model 3 is on its way. Tweet TweetVolkswagen introduces today two new frugal models, namely the e-Gold and e-up!, namely the electric versions of the standard models. To begin with, the e-Golf is based on the newest generation and comes with an electric motor offering 115hp and 270Nm of torque, making the 0-100 km/h sprint possible in 10,4 seconds with a top speed of 130 km/h. Even though we talk about a fully electric model, there are no reason to worry as Volkswagen promises a driving range of 190 kilometers with a charging time of 30 minutes (to 80%) with a CCS charging station. The little brother of the e-Golf, the e-up! comes with a less powerful 82-horsepower electric motor offering a 0-100 km/h sprint in 12,4 seconds and a top speed of 130 km/h. The driving range is almost similar at 160 kilometers thanks to an 18.7 kWh battery. “Given an electricity price of €0.258 per kWh (Germany, as of 31st July 2013), driving 100 km with the e-up! costs just €3.02, and with the e-Golf it is … [Read more...] about Volksagen presents the new e-Golf and e-up!
With a new, all-electric Mini E set to arrive in dealerships in a year or less, BMW wants to highlight the idea of a Mini Cooper powered by batteries. That's what led it to display an "old Mini" converted to electric power at a reception before last week's New York auto show. Sadly, the car wasn't on display at the show itself because—as booth staff explained—it was privately owned, not a company project. DON'T MISS: Electric Mini makes US debut at LA auto show (Nov 2017) In its press materials, the company didn't detail the electric powertrain, though we doubt it shares any components with the upcoming Mini E that's likely to launch as a 2019 model. The red-and-white classic 1998 Mini Cooper—just 10 feet from stem to stern—sported the yellow plug logo seen on the original fleet of Mini E test cars in 2009, which will likely reappear on next year's production car. A brief drive report from the British magazine Autocar, however, provided considerably more detail … [Read more...] about Classic Mini converted to electric previews 2019 Mini E to come
